Hi! I'm just curious how far everyone plans to go in their education. Also, the time frame that you hope to complete your schooling. And I guess what you hope to specialize in. This is purely out of curiousity!
I'll start! I'm 21 years old and I will start my 2 year ADN program next fall. I will graduate when I'm 24 when I will complete a year long (24 credit) RN-BSN. I then hope to finish my MSN by the time I'm 26, at the same school that I complete my BSN at. I want to be a Midwife!
I know a lot of people believe you should work for awhile first and then go back to school but I want to get it all done with while I'm single, free of children, etc.
Of course this all depends on passing ADN school, getting into the BSN and MSN program, etc. I'm lucky though and have few responsibilities other than NS so I think I'll be okay. Plus, I have my eyes set on a school that is not as competitive so I have a much better chance.
ps sorry if i looked over a post like this... i didn't see any though.
No, I was stating I've been twiddling my thumbs much longer than I wanted to. I'm not at the completion that I wish I was at by now, is all I was saying.
No worries, I felt the EXACT same way. I also started pursuing pre reqs for the nursing program when I was 21. I'm 23 now and I'm I start level 2 in January. Not saying I was late or anything. But i always think to myself, "Man if only I would have figured out I wanted to be a nurse earlier, I would've already been done." I have a friend who graduated HS a year after me, and is graduating with their ADN this year. At first it really bothered me because like I said, I could've already been done. But in the end, there were other things that needed to happen in order to prepare myself for this program. Everything happens for a reason and I'm just glad I'm in this program. :)
Goodluck to you!
Im 20 and i am currently in a bsn program. I graduate in may 2013. I then hope to experience a variety of fields over a 7 yr period, such as flight nurse, er, psyciatric nursing before spending at least 2 yrs in the icu as well as start a family. Then start Nuse anesthesia school when im 30. I also have vague plans of teaching in my 60s and/or joining the peace corps.
