Liking members at AN

Published

Perhaps because I don't mind agreeing to disagree but something I really enjoy here are the times when someone I previously thought was a dope says something I think is smart and they are moved from my imaginary dope to my imaginary sharp list. :)

Throughout my life I strive to keep an open mind so I don't miss something profound. There are some people here I have "known" for years, respect and think I would like to work with and might even enjoy them as a friend. There are others who I wonder how they manage to tie their shoes this morning let alone pass NCLEX but again I continue to keep an open mind and very often I am pleasantly surprised.

Do you change favorite posters here or are you consistent with who you appreciate and who you aren't so thrilled with? Does anyone block members? My curiosity would never allow that, lol.

Me too! Allnurses is great, but I can't say that getting rid of that pesky old 5-minute edit window and getting the "premium membership" had nothing to do with my decision to spend the money.......:whistling:

That 5 minute window has been replaced for a little while now. It's 1 hour. :)

I am so glad you said that. No joke, I was just going to comment on this thread only to see if, in fact, the edit window was gone. It seems I only successfully proofread AFTER tapping reply.

I'm so happy I found this thread again! I had to leave to read that Mockery thread, good stuff.

I am but a lurker and a "pre-nursing student" I am applying to my school's program in August.

It seems like many of the people mentioned are the ones that I find give the most realistic and straight truths in many of the threads I have read.

They teach me what kind of student nurse to NOT be.

I appreciate everyone's knowledge. Thank you for helping us out when you can.

Other than the mods there arent many people im too familiar with on AN. I dont really seek out posters and the only times I really look at the names of people is to check who or what I may be responding to haha im just that ambivalent. I know ive made my fair share of enemies on here with some of my radical point of view on things ir general bluntness but I do hope even if im on someones dopey list, they at least acknowledge the fact that more often than not i try to help moreso than casting stones or adding in 2 cents that are worth less than that

So I finally had to block someone. I've never had to do that. Usually I get into a spat with someone, it might get heated but it ends. I never thought I would have to block someone. But this was just going to far.

I respect so many people here on AN regardless of their title. If we can have an intelligent conversation/debate, I love talking with you. There are really too many to name, by the way.

I've had a lot of fun posting on here and learning. I get SOOOO mad sometimes that I end up cracking myself up. I mean, who has a fit over strangers on the internet?

There are a lot of people on here I respect a ton, even though I feel like an alien from another planet when reading some of their posts.

There are a lot of attitudes and positions that I can't relate to, but respect. There are also a few that just **** me off, but I've figured out that's because of my own biases.

I also like being the odd one out. I usually have a different perspective from 75% of the posters on here. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes I'm just plain wrong. But I have fun.

Sometimes I'm a little too blunt, and have to be reeled in. Holier-than-thou types push every single one of my buttons, then tap-dance on them. I get a little, well, bewitchy.

I don't think I've ever blocked anyone, but that's probably because I haven't been motivated enough to figure out how.

Some of my favorite posters are the COBS and the new people who are snarky. I love snark (except when it's aimed at me, of course).

Snarks are so much fun. But I have learned a lot. And some things change my prespective for the better.

To the topic in general, there are some people who I like so much I give their posts a like without reading all the way through them. There are some members I was sure hated me, and who I later discovered had no specific knowledge of who I was. I never hold a grudge or keep a mental tally of who has offended me, so I might "like" something written by someone who offended me earlier the same day.

That's funny...I thought I was the only one who did that! I don't know why you would think people dislike you.

I remember those baby sites, too. :bag:

I don't dislike anyone here. I don't think I would ever block anyone, because then how would I be able to keep an eye on their antics.

I'm a noob (relatively speaking), and I lurked here for a while before jumping in and posting. The School Nurse board has been my saving grace some days. It's tough being the only nurse-person in your building so they are a good bunch to vent to and laugh with. I consider that board my virtual nurse's station/desk.

Many of you are much more eloquent than I ever will be. I enjoy reading your posts and words of wisdom. :)

If you're on your phone it doesn't block them & you can still follow their antics. It's weird but I don't get it. I just blocked someone & I assumed if you blocked someone they would be blocked. But not on the app.

And I was delighted to discover (on the full version, not the app) that if you block someone, the fact that the person posted appears, and you can, if you've a mind to, read it.

Alas, when I do that with folks I block, I mostly find that I still want to block them. Oh, well. But hope springs eternal.

Yes, when I saw that I thought I would unblock that person. But no, it is was worth it.

Thank you, from you a compliment means a lot. Most of it dates to my pre-guide days, when some of what I wrote makes me want to  ...plus a gradual realization that most of the time the spats were more of an energy drain than anything else.
