Perhaps because I don't mind agreeing to disagree but something I really enjoy here are the times when someone I previously thought was a dope says something I think is smart and they are moved from my imaginary dope to my imaginary sharp list. :)
Throughout my life I strive to keep an open mind so I don't miss something profound. There are some people here I have "known" for years, respect and think I would like to work with and might even enjoy them as a friend. There are others who I wonder how they manage to tie their shoes this morning let alone pass NCLEX but again I continue to keep an open mind and very often I am pleasantly surprised.
Do you change favorite posters here or are you consistent with who you appreciate and who you aren't so thrilled with? Does anyone block members? My curiosity would never allow that, lol.
So, I just have to say that if I ever met a "famous" AN member in person I wouldn't even be able to keep my cool. I'd declare them my idol and ask for their autograph.

This is a great thread! I like many posters on AN but never reached out to break that 4th wall... That would sorta ruin the fun of anonymity for me. That same barrier censors my postings, because I work hard at keeping my true identity secret 😎 I'm so tempted to attend NTI incognito... But I also want to sit with so many of you and share some food and drinks! I'm sure we'd get along in person.
I've only blocked one poster in my nearly 10 years at AN... And every time I hit the Spoiler button to see if the person has changed, I'm glad I did. I really don't care what people think of me, but this poster makes my blood boil and that's not healthy. Also, I would engage her and then earn points myself from the Mods for sure! Lol. (My humor does not translate well to internet boards).
My reading and posting is 98% from the app, so I hardly ever see the "likes" on my posts but when I do go on the website , it warms my heart to see others find my words tolerable. I try to be a productive member, but I do a lot more reading than posting.
There are about 3 members that I've never felt aligned with since I started here and although I've tried hard to see their side, I never will. I usually just scroll by their posts. It's ok to not like everyone -- I'm sure I provoke similar reactions in others. It's the way things go.
Oh! When iVillage was mentioned, I was sent back in time to dial-up nightmares! Those were some mean boards for sure. Fun to read the drama though 😉

I've blocked a couple and unblocked them later after I got over whatever it was. They may still be their lovable selves but they no longer bother me. My current 'blocked' roster is only one person long.
My first discussion board was a baseball one. (Since there has been discussion about thinking someone's a boy and they're really a girl.....in case anyone out there still cares, I'm a girl. A girl who likes baseball. :) ) I've lived and died - mostly died - with the Cubs, and joined a Cubs discussion forum with people who were waaaaay out of my league, but I was 18 and didn't know any better.
Joined AN in 2006 and there has been no looking back, though there are occasional hiatuses. Hiatii? Whatever. I like just about everybody here and have had the good fortune to meet several AN peeps in real life, including a good number of the mod staff. There are fun discussions every day here, but the most fun one recently was the med student/nurse/butcher/baker/candlestick maker that tried and failed at trolling us. Nobody took the bait, but we did have fun throwing our own party in that thread!

I actually blocked myself from another board right now. It's a private board that migrated from a public board years ago. I get too annoyed with the posters, but I figure it's me so I took a break. The other posters aren't doing anything wrong, I'm just annoyed and getting way too snarky.

Lol I'm boisterous and loud also. People seem to either really like me or find my manner abrasive.
