Perhaps because I don't mind agreeing to disagree but something I really enjoy here are the times when someone I previously thought was a dope says something I think is smart and they are moved from my imaginary dope to my imaginary sharp list. :)
Throughout my life I strive to keep an open mind so I don't miss something profound. There are some people here I have "known" for years, respect and think I would like to work with and might even enjoy them as a friend. There are others who I wonder how they manage to tie their shoes this morning let alone pass NCLEX but again I continue to keep an open mind and very often I am pleasantly surprised.
Do you change favorite posters here or are you consistent with who you appreciate and who you aren't so thrilled with? Does anyone block members? My curiosity would never allow that, lol.
I feel so safe now.Usually I get treated like some sort of heretic for not loving Matt Smith.
I'm raising a houseful of Whovians, and Tennant is definitely the king. They like Matt Smith, but I think they love the Amy/Rory/River storyline more. They're giving Capaldi a chance. Particularly my oldest was incensed that the fan base embarrassed itself by getting upset that he wasn't young and cute. But then, she watches Classic Who online wherever she can find it.
You're among friends here. Weird, geeky friends.
Not at all what I expected! I thought I'd find Grn Tea or LadyFree hawking scrubs!

Doctor Who is not supposed to be young and cute. (Insert rage filled fist shaking here.)

Well good, it embarrassed me too. Besides, Capaldi isn't bad looking for an older gentleman.
My micro lab teacher, first class he's ever taught, on our final lab practical did an exercise on what and how we would track down the point source of a disease that causes infected to bite others, become fast moving psychotic zombies.
I answered, what are we talking about World War Z here? Followed by all the relevant, correct answers with a splattering of "We would need Peter Capaldi too. Don't you think it's funny he play a WHO doctor in WWZ and now he's the Doctor on Doctor Who?
I got extra credit.
Our entire Boy Scout (and Cub Scout) troop, including parents, are a bunch of geeks. Our campfires are very entertaining, and rather informational as well.
And I second the idea that some threads should never die; they are the archeological layers of AN and anyone should be able to core down into them to rediscover our history.
All in favor of reanimating the "Mockery of Nurses" thread, which continues to teach, provoke, and delight as evidenced by the number of Likes it still attracts, say AYE!
Can I hear an AMEN??
:flwrhrts:
My impression was also that Sherlock Holmes wasn't supposed to be either, but 9 (count 'em, NINE!) episodes later, I'm fangirling so hard....
My daughter too. She's read all the books and adores Cumberbatch's Sherlock. I asked her if that was because she knows the books or in spite of that. She said usually because, but became incensed when discussing how Sherlock and Irene Adler had been 'shipped in both the show and the RDJ movies. Apparently it's REALLY CLEAR in the book that their relationship is not that type.
Beware geek anger when they feel canon has been violated. I have to say, though, she's adorable when she's ranting.

I loved that thread with every fiber of my being. It took forever to read it (man that was a lot of posts.) I have to admit though, that thread had me feeling a little like I'm stepping on toes or where I shouldn't be.
I hope to think that since I'm not a dimwit my presence will be tolerated among you all during my schooling. I promise to use the search function before I ask any questions that have been asked a billion times before.
Though, I was thinking of making a satire "best stethoscope" post for **** and giggles.

I remember once in High school they made this announcement: "We are testing the PA system. If you did not get this message, please notify the office."
