Perhaps because I don't mind agreeing to disagree but something I really enjoy here are the times when someone I previously thought was a dope says something I think is smart and they are moved from my imaginary dope to my imaginary sharp list. :)
Throughout my life I strive to keep an open mind so I don't miss something profound. There are some people here I have "known" for years, respect and think I would like to work with and might even enjoy them as a friend. There are others who I wonder how they manage to tie their shoes this morning let alone pass NCLEX but again I continue to keep an open mind and very often I am pleasantly surprised.
Do you change favorite posters here or are you consistent with who you appreciate and who you aren't so thrilled with? Does anyone block members? My curiosity would never allow that, lol.
I keep telling my husband when he dies I'm using what's left of his life insurance after putting aside college money for our kids to go to England and fangirl all over the place. And New Zealand.
LOL my oldest wants to go to Scotland after college, and though she hasn't admitted this, I'm sure at least half the reason is that she's hoping to run into David Tennant and John Barrowman.

Ohhhh, yes. Bucket list is to live in England even if for a year or two, just because. And my retirement home will be a hobbit hole. You see my avatar is Galadriel, but I look like and act like a hobbit. I could live in NZ as well!
My daughter too. She's read all the books and adores Cumberbatch's Sherlock. I asked her if that was because she knows the books or in spite of that. She said usually because, but became incensed when discussing how Sherlock and Irene Adler had been 'shipped in both the show and the RDJ movies. Apparently it's REALLY CLEAR in the book that their relationship is not that type.Beware geek anger when they feel canon has been violated. I have to say, though, she's adorable when she's ranting.
Geeky girls are the best! You can tell her I'm not a fan of the Adlock shipping either. :) IMV he's fascinated by her because she's smart but nothing more than that. I don't even see a lot of shipping in the show, just her flirting 'at' him. But the internets are full of Adlock shippers! I'm a hardcore Johnlock girl (at least for the TV series) all the way and will be very shocked if that's not BBC's endgame.
Geeks do get stroppy when we feel our beloved stories have been sold out! I think if anyone other than PJ had done the LOTR/Hobbit movies I'd never have liked them, but he did a pretty decent job of sticking to canon and only deviated where it wasn't important. In my opinion.
So I guess y'all know my fandoms now. I feel like we all just became BFFs. LOL
I'm raising a houseful of Whovians, and Tennant is definitely the king. They like Matt Smith, but I think they love the Amy/Rory/River storyline more. They're giving Capaldi a chance. Particularly my oldest was incensed that the fan base embarrassed itself by getting upset that he wasn't young and cute. But then, she watches Classic Who online wherever she can find it.You're among friends here. Weird, geeky friends.
Can we abandon all shop talk and start a thread about Doctor Who, Sherlock, or (be still my heart) the latest Star Wars movie?

So, you're telling me you're really short and have hairy feet? Sexy.
"What about second breakfast?"

You asked, I made it so. Breakroom is a beautiful thing. :)
Here we all go, now we won't go making the mods crazy with OT posts here!
My impression was also that Sherlock Holmes wasn't supposed to be either, but 9 (count 'em, NINE!) episodes later, I'm fangirling so hard....
Have you heard Benny talk about what kind of lover Sherlock would likely be? Go YouTube it. That video might be borderline TOS violating, so I won't link it here.

Doesn't John live in LA? He's quite American. He's on Facebook and posts regularly. Just got married when Cali legalized it.

He was born in Scotland, raised in America after age 8. He has dual citizenship. He has homes in Palm Springs, London, and Cardiff, Wales. Before they got married in California, he and his partner entered a civil partnership in Cardiff.
So apparently, she still wouldn't find him in Scotland. I'll let her know. I'm sure she'll be crushed to have to explore Wales and London too.
