Hi everyone!
I'm starting nursing school in August and I was curious, what color is your stethoscope? Someone told me not to get black because it could possibly "grow legs."
What is the best brand and color?
I somehow accidentally bought not one, but two Omron Sprague Rappaport steths on ebay last night. I was considering experimenting with silicone tape to see if the omron sr would make a superior stethoscope for manual BPs. Guess I will be conducting that experiment next week!
They are both black.
My first post-school steth was a black Prestige Clinical I in all black. The binaurals hurt my ears, so I bought Littmann binaurals for it (I probably should have just bought a classic SE II) and it is awesome. I kind of like it more than the Littmann IIs I sometimes play with.
I just got a burgundy Welch Allyn Harvey Elite. I actually love it, but if Littmanns were not so everywhere, I probably would have gotten a Littmann cardiology III because IMO, Littmanns have the most comfortable binaurals on the market.
I suspect the Omron SR will be the loudest darn thing ever, and when I eliminate the bumping tubes I will be golden for round 2 of school.
By the way, once I compared the cost of glasses to the cost of a top-of-the-line (analog) steth, it's a no-brainer to me to just go with what works best for you. Unless, of course, your nice steth keeps liberating itself.
I have a littmann lightweight stethoscope in lilac! I got my name engraved for free on www.medisave.net. I'm very happy with it.
I wonder if one of these would work if it grew legs

So many things I could use that for...LOL
I have a Littman Classic II SE and I love it! It's pink and has my full name and stars engraved on the bell. I don't think color matters when it comes to theft because thieves will steal no matter what. But color definitely matters when it comes to cases of mistaken identity. That's why I got a less than common color and engraving. I also never leave it around because you never know who is around. Mine is always in my ears or in my pockets. The doctors around these parts have been known to pluck right them off your neck.
I had a cheap one for my first semester (I wanted to make sure I would make it to the 2nd semester, lol....I heard horror stories). It was purple. I was one of about 15 people in my class to have a purple one! For my birthday, my husband bout me a Littman Classic II SE. It is raspberry with a rainbow bell. It also has my name on it. Good luck to you.
