June 2008 NCLEX support group

Published

This thread is for any upcoming graduates taking NCLEX in June of 2008.

To start off with I would love to hear if anyone is taking Kaplan, or Drexel or other prep courses and why did you choose the one you did? I am looking into them and I am just not sure which one is best and why.

Thanks!

I felt horrible when I left the test on Thur 19th. I had 78 questions one calculation, a couple sata and the last few seemed too easy but guess what. I found out this afternoon right at 48 hrs that I passed! I am a RN!!! Everyone still waiting dont give up!

congrats!

Hi, I took NCLEX-RN on Thursday and passed with 75 questions. Good luck to everyone!

Will the NCLEX be specific about when to round a med calcs?? Or do we round to the nearest tenth (3.56 is 3.5) or even to the 1's (3.56 is 4.0 ) ??

For example, I am doing practice questions and had to figure out a drop rate/min - I came up with a calculation of 37.5 drops/min ... However, I remember from nursing school that you can't actually figure a half-a-drop, so I rounded to 38. The question said I was wrong, and that the actual answer was 37.5 This was supposedly done on an IV pump - so is that the difference? Like if you are manually counting drops, then of course you can't count a half drop... but because a pump can be put to any number, then puting 37.5 gtt/min is acceptable??

Anyone have any ideas about this??

Don't worry the question will state if they want a whole number or a decimal. =)

General E. Speaking - Congratulations - I bet you feel very relieved! Way to go!

Well guys, I tested at 12:30 today. I answered 76 questions and it took me close to two hours. I had several SATA, lots of priority, a few delegation, and two medication calculations. That's about all I can remember ... the rest is a blur, lol. I guess I'll find out in a couple days...

:plsebeg:

i am sure that you both did better then you think you did. right now you both need a break to unwind and recharge your batteries. you have come so far in just having the courage to sit for this killer test. try not to beat yourselfs up while you wait for your results to come. i will be thinking of you both and praying that come monday we have two more rn's to add to the june list.

to everyone else still waiting for results or to test...good luck...we can conquer this.

to those who have recently passed i send another round of congratulations your way.

hey lobo,

i just got home and i feel horrible. i took 110 questions which is probably bad anyways. i had lots of priority, 10-15 sata, but only 1 med calc. i feel like crap and it would be a serious miracle if i passed. my last question was priority too. i don't know what to think at this point. i hope for the best for you. hang in there. we both have a long wait!!! enjoy the time spent with friends. i am about to call up some of my friends now to go out. still praying...

well, i just got home from taking it....got 75 questions and i feel horrible! i know 100% for sure that i failed...my last 4 or 5 questions seemed a lot easier than they should have been which is a bad sign. i didn't feel confident answering any of the questions which totally sucks! the strategies that kaplan teaches only helped for about 2 questions! i had about 15-20 sata, 2-3 drug cals and a ton of meds and very little priority which is also another bad sign.... all i can do is wait and hope and pray for the best! my friend is taking me shopping and to lunch today to keep my mind off of it, so that will be nice, then i plan to have some drinks tonight with some other friends! i work tomorrow night which will be good and keep me busy...monday morning can't come fast enough! thanks again for all of your continued prayers, support and encouragement! i still have faith that i'll be telling you guys on monday morning that i'm an rn! have a great weekend and best of luck to those who still have to take the test!

Statistics show that whether you passed or failed, most people get 50% WRONG!

Man, I think I missed my first question!! (or guessed correctly...) (And I know I got my first math question wrong because I didn't figure it all the way like I was suppose to....I realized it on the second one after I calmed down about getting a math question!)

Please, I know it's hard, but try not to spend so much time in the dumps until you know for sure your score. ;)
