June 2008 NCLEX support group

Published

This thread is for any upcoming graduates taking NCLEX in June of 2008.

To start off with I would love to hear if anyone is taking Kaplan, or Drexel or other prep courses and why did you choose the one you did? I am looking into them and I am just not sure which one is best and why.

Thanks!

I found out this morning I passed!!!!!!!! Whew hew!:D:D:D I want to thank EVERYONE in this support group for your assistance. I wish everyone who has yet to take the test all the best! You can do this! Positive self talk, convincing yourself that you are capable and will pass is a big part of the battle.

Again, good luck!

I guess I need to change my user name!

Congratulations!!! ....LPNut to RNut?

Congrats everyone who passed!! I cant even imagine the feeling you guys have... must be like 1000 tons lifted off your shoulders :) Reading your stories are (mostly) encouraging!!

I test in less than 2 weeks. Took Kaplan last month and just finished the q bank (68% avg) Got a 70% and 67% on trainer 6 & 7. So now I am going back and continuing on doing 100 questions a day of the ones I originally missed and reading all rationales. Then after that Im going to re take question trainers and Q bank I got correct. Also doing Saunders and ATI each day. Sometimes I feel totally ready and just want it over with and sometimes I feel that there is no way Im gonna be able to nail all those SATAs and be in the lower range of difficulty :banghead::crying2::eek:Agggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh. I dont know what to do with myself lol I am religious about studying, even if I have to get up at 6 am to fit it into my day :saint: Hope it pays off. When it all comes down to the day I sit down at that computer station, its just me& God.

i was sorry to hear that you were unsuccessful on your recent attempt for nclex and i am praying for you during this difficult time. i wanted to comment regarding your questions about the hurst review. i had attended a live review in mid-may and i did the online videos of the lectures as well. i thought that both were great and i probably would have just done the online portion had i known they mirrored the live review. the review takes 4 days - 7 to 8 hours a day - just to cover the material that you should really know (she calls it "core content"). the lecture is taught in simplistic, easy-to-understand means, puts the concepts that you learned in nursing school together, and the content is said in a way that helps you remember what you need to know. what i liked about doing the online videos, is that i could go over areas that i felt i was weak in and just listen to her as much as i wanted until i felt i had a better handle on topic. she also goes over what to look for when answering questions...

it worked for me, but it may not be for everyone. i studied for my exam using the hurst review and answering questions from a variety of sources once i felt like i was comfortable with the core content. i passed my exam with 75 questions and i felt o.k. about the exam when i left (which scared me even more since that usually means i bombed the test).

if you have any questions for me, feel free to pm me. good luck and keep with it! you will pass!

thank you i just paid for the online reveiw with hurst i will give it a go thanks allot for your words of encouragement i will keep you posted on my progress..... i will trust in god too, thanks allot all the best

Oh, and :wlcmblks: to AllNurses.com because :[anb]:!! :yeah:

I took my nclex today.

I had 75 questions.

20-25 SATA. (and I absolutely hate those!)

2 math.

15 priority

1 delegation

can't remember the rest.

When I got to the 70's I started to panic. On the 75th question it turned off. I was relieved that I didn't have to do any more questions, but because nervous because that was all the chance I got to show my worth. I think I may have had a panic attack if it had went any further. It took me a little over an hour to take it.

I feel like I knew the answers to alot of them. Didn't know the answers at all the a few of them. And felt I was pretty sure on the majority that are left.

I'm telling myself that SATA are harder (level 3) questions and it means that it knew I have the minimum competence with the minimum number of questions.

I know the results won't be there yet, but I can't get the Georgia Board of Nursing website to work to show results. It keeps timing out or something weird. Anyone else having any issues like this.

Here's hoping for the best! I keep telling myself that my school has a 94% pass rate, so out of 104 of us, surely I will pass the first time!

keep your fingers crossed for me!
