Things seem to be unfolding rather quickly. Former White House aides and advisors are scrambling to cover themselves as they receive subpoenas to appear and produce documents.
It’s rare when lawyers — as opposed to their clients — take the Fifth Amendment. But Jeffrey Clark, the former Justice Department lawyer who reportedly tried to help Donald Trump overturn the 2020 presidential election, is now claiming the privilege against self-incrimination to avoid testifying before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. He has just been joined in that posture by one of Trump’s main outside legal advisers, John Eastman.
The lawsuit comes after the committee signaled it would pursue a criminal contempt referral against Meadows because of his refusal to sit for a deposition in the investigation into the Capitol riot. Meadows alleges that the subpoenas are "overly broad and unduly burdensome," while claiming that the committee "lacks lawful authority to seek and to obtain" the information requested.
And apparently Mark Meadows had a power point outlining how to overturn election results.
The 38-page presentation, entitled "Election Fraud, Foreign Interference & Options for 6 Jan," is dated one day before the Capitol riot. It's believed to have been submitted by Meadows after he was subpoenaed by the panel in connection with the insurrection.
I feel like those that were there were pretty clear that their intent was to prevent the electoral college from legally determining that Biden was the next President, and to instead take steps to install Trump as the next President, is that still something that is supposedly up for debate?
I was also skeptical when it was reported that part of the strategy of the Proud Boys and other groups was that there was an advantage to being unarmed, but actually it does make sense. An armed violent mob isn't even making it to the Capital steps, much less to the point where they can force their way in. Once they're in, being armed or not really doesn't make that much of a difference.
I would certainly agree that if Navarro was really placed in "leg irons" then that was probably unnecessary, although I've seen no confirmation that this occurred. As for whether it was excessive to arrest him, no, he's been charged with two criminal counts, those are things nobody should be surprised to get arrested for.

there's no spin. Pelosi and Muriel Bowser (DC mayor) both refused to have national guards present despite Trump's request. If Trump placed them at the capitol it would have been a violation of law. Here's mayor Bowser's tweet just a day before the protest:
Correspondence with Pelosi's office hasn't been release yet, nor have 1000s of hours of capitol security footage, either. Stop repeating lies, you are being lied to for nefarious reasons. Hillary may have technically conceded but her campaign, along with major media support, concocted a phony Russia collusion hoax that was designed to remove Trump from office, spied on him during his presidency, and he was illegally impeached twice yet not convicted of anything. The "insurrection" was planned and orchestrated to coopt a legitimate protest over election integrity and was turned violent by agent provocateurs to prevent Trump from ever running again for president since the impeachment didn't stick the first time...yet nothing was found incriminating Trump, but we're still having "hearings" on January 6th? Why did Pelosi and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser refuse 20,000 National Guard troops that were approved by Trump? Here's mayor Bowser's tweet just a day before Jan 6th:

Hope all who feel this way watch the committees televised hearings/report and citizen testimony presented this month to compare/contrast with known information and previous TV coverage of the event so a full picture of the attempt to overturn the 2020 US presidential election, planning behind it and any government officials involved in overthrowing our Democracy.

we already had an impeachment over Jan 6th and nothing came about from it. these hearings are political theater, why else would the committee refuse to allow any republicans with a backbone to be a part of it? not one word of Pelosi refusing 20,000 national guard troops will be mentioned.

A Republican candidate for Michigan governor and ardent defender of former President Donald Trump was charged with misdemeanors Thursday for his role in the 2021 post-election riot at the U.S. Capitol, further complicating an already messy GOP primary.
Ryan Kelley, 40, was arrested in western Michigan and appeared at a brief hearing in federal court in Grand Rapids, where he was released from custody without posting bail. The government did not ask that Kelley be detained....
...Kelley, a real estate broker who lives in Allendale Township, is accused of disruptive conduct, injuring public property and entering restricted space without permission, according to the criminal complaint.
In a court document made public Thursday, federal investigators said Kelley was recorded on video outside the U.S. Capitol on the day of the insurrection, repeatedly waving to the crowd and directing them toward stairs leading into the building. He used his phone to “film the crowd assaulting and pushing past U.S. Capitol police officers” and was in a crowd that climbed stairs to a Capitol entrance after causing police to retreat, the FBI said.
The document included multiple photos of Kelley that the FBI described as screengrabs from video taken that day, with Kelley wearing aviator sunglasses and a baseball cap worn backward, trying to rally the pro-Trump crowd....

After the 2020 election, Kelley was a speaker at a “Stop the Steal” rally in Lansing, telling the crowd that Democrats were trying to steal Trump’s victory. As a candidate, Kelley said that if elected governor, he would work to cancel contracts with companies that provide voting machines in Michigan and eliminate same-day voter registration. ...

Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House and has no mechanism to deploy or block the deployment of National Guard troops.
The stated purpose of the various group that took part in the insurrection was to obstruct the legal process of democracy, effectively a (very poorly implemented) coup.
