Things seem to be unfolding rather quickly. Former White House aides and advisors are scrambling to cover themselves as they receive subpoenas to appear and produce documents.

It’s rare when lawyers — as opposed to their clients — take the Fifth Amendment. But Jeffrey Clark, the former Justice Department lawyer who reportedly tried to help Donald Trump overturn the 2020 presidential election, is now claiming the privilege against self-incrimination to avoid testifying before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. He has just been joined in that posture by one of Trump’s main outside legal advisers, John Eastman.

The lawsuit comes after the committee signaled it would pursue a criminal contempt referral against Meadows because of his refusal to sit for a deposition in the investigation into the Capitol riot. Meadows alleges that the subpoenas are "overly broad and unduly burdensome," while claiming that the committee "lacks lawful authority to seek and to obtain" the information requested.
And apparently Mark Meadows had a power point outlining how to overturn election results.

The 38-page presentation, entitled "Election Fraud, Foreign Interference & Options for 6 Jan," is dated one day before the Capitol riot. It's believed to have been submitted by Meadows after he was subpoenaed by the panel in connection with the insurrection.

Are you grossly misinformed, or just make things up?
He wasn't fleeing, but going to Nashville to appear on TV. And was in jail for a few hours until a court appearance, where then he was released on a personal recognizance (no cash) bond.
He says he spoke with both a prosecutor and FBI agent on Wednesday and was given no indication they wanted to arrest him. And, that he was removed from the plane and placed in both handcuffs and leg shackles. That would be quite extraordinary for a nonviolent person being charged with misdemeanors. And, if true, shows you what a political witch hunt this is.
I wonder if you paid any attention at all to the Sussman trial? Lots of testimony about how the Clinton campaign, with the Hilary's approval and likely then Obama's knowledge, used the power of the US govt to push the false Trump collusion narrative to tilt the election in her favor.
That should be a much bigger concern to everyone than the farce of the Jan 6 committee.
Sorry Beerman, agree to disagree. Consider January 6th committee work, actions they found and assault on the US Constitution/Capital riot much greater assault on this country's democracy. And it's still ongoing with attempts to install Secretary of States in some states who fully believe Biden is not President, election stolen from Trump and need to deny approval of election results in many non-white communities due to such high numbers voting against Republicans --- Michigan is an example.

Michigan Republican secretary of state pick leveled baseless claims of election misconduct
QuoteRepublican Kristina Karamo launched her campaign for Michigan secretary of state with a passionate campaign promise.
"I am running to remove corruption from our elections and from the Michigan SOS office," she said in a statement announcing her bid.
This vow to clean up elections stemmed from her experience in 2020 as a presidential election challenger in Detroit. Following the election, she appeared on conservative television programs, testified before state lawmakers and participated in legal efforts to fight the election results, claiming that she witnessed misconduct as she observed election workers processing and counting ballots at the Detroit convention hall formerly known as the TCF Center.
But a close look at her allegations about the last election show they don't provide evidence of fraud or wrongdoing. Rather, the Free Press found, she appears to mistake standard processes for something nefarious.
The MAGA Poll Worker Who Might Run Michigan's Elections - The Atlantic

Kristina Karamo was an unknown poll worker who claimed the 2020 election was fraudulent. Now she’s the Republican candidate for secretary of state.
...In the weeks after the 2020 election, one particular Michigan woman was trumpeting claims of fraud as loudly as she could. Kristina Karamo, a community-college professor who’d previously accused Democrats of having a “satanic agenda,” went on Fox News again and again to describe how illegal ballots supposedly had been tallied for Joe Biden at the TCF Center in Detroit, where she worked as a poll watcher. She testified before the State Senate that sacks of votes inexplicably had been dropped off there in the middle of Election Night. She suggested that Dominion Voting software had flipped Trump votes to Biden votes statewide. (All unfounded Karen)..
Michigan’s next election chief, in other words, might be one of its foremost election-conspiracy theorists. And what happens in this swing state in 2024 could tip the entire presidential outcome. “One thing the last six years has taught me is you never say never,” Jeff Timmer, a former executive director of the Michigan Republican Party who has been highly critical of the GOP’s new direction, told me this week. “Crazy is powerful, and it doesn’t get tired.”...
...Michigan is quite clearly rooted in a desire to establish a more reliable foundation of support than he had in 2020: Two years ago, the people who voted to certify Biden’s victory were members of Trump’s own party; the State Senate investigation that found no evidence of widespread fraud was led by the GOP; and the two congressmen from Michigan who supported Trump’s impeachment were both Republicans. Last election, Michigan’s GOP leaders did not bend to Trump’s will. Next time, he hopes, they will....

Video: Secretary of state races in the spotlight as false election theories take root in U.S.
QuoteNBC News’ most recent polling suggests about 38 percent of voters across the country still believe the 2020 election was stolen, despite audits in 39 states and confirmation from more than 60 courts. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who is running for reelection, tells NBC News’ Cynthia McFadden that former President Trump suggested she should be arrested for treason and potentially executed. A spokesman for former President Trump says that claim is not true. Benson’s opponent, Kristina Karamo, was endorsed by Trump and has said Benson “should go to jail."...

How did that Sussman trial turn out? What do you think Durham accomplished with that loss?

The report goes beyond prior analyses to provide the first in-depth treatment of the voluminous publicly available evidence and the relevant law, including possible defenses. It reviews the evidence as to whether Trump as a matter of law conspired with his outside counsel John Eastman, administration lawyer Jeffrey Clark, and others to defraud the United States in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371 by scheming to block the electoral count on January 6, 2021 and to subvert the Department of Justice’s election enforcement work. The report similarly reviews the evidence as to whether Trump and Eastman violated 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c) with their scheme to obstruct the congressional count.

...The historically rare sedition charge lodged against him and his codefendants — including Enrique Tarrio, the Proud Boys former national chairman, two other regional leaders of the far-right group, and a member from the group’s New York chapter — is the most serious accusation prosecutors have brought against any of the more than 800 people charged with playing a role in the attack..
Conviction requires prosecutors to prove that the men were seeking to either overthrow the government or interfere with the execution of federal law and carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
Rehl, a Marine veteran and son and grandson of Philadelphia police officers, has remained in custody without bail since his initial arrest in March 2021. He could not be reached for comment Monday.

Wow. So, he is a Marine veteran, grandson of cops, and was previously arrested with a carload of guns. It seems odd he would try to overthrow the US govt while unarmed, wouldn't you agree?
He's been in custody for over a year, without bail. Why is that? Other than this is a political witchunt.

The judge who denied his bail is timothy kelly. He previously worked for chuck grassley and was appointed by trump. So, how exactly do you conclude this is a “political witchunt”?
bail can be denied for many reasons, including, but not limited to potential for future acts of violence (see your own comment about overthrowing the government). I believe most of those charged with sedition, like rehl, were denied bail & remain in pretrial detention. I’m not a lawyer, but this part of the penal code is pretty straightforward.
