i couldnt imagine NOT working. so YES i would work. i would stay at the shift i am now, majority time, but have them know that i will still be traveling and may need to ask for days off.

i cannot imagine not using all this knowledge i have learned and heck, PAID for! lol

Good question!!

What would you do.................since we know it may not be enough for some to retire, include educational aspects:nuke:

Specializes in Plastic Surgery, ER.

I would drop back to PRN at my current FT job, go to school FT to complete my MSN/FNP (starting in May:D) and be more of a stay at home Mom for a little while~

I'd also pay off the house, the car and old student loans from BSN, landscape my yard, and plan 2 vacations: the 1st a cruise with my family and the other a trip to Jamaica with my hubby!

Specializes in ER, Acute, home health, LTC, & Psy.

I would continue to work as an RN, if I won the lottery, but as a per diem!!!

:yeah:

Specializes in RN- Med/surg.

Ditto- I'd work per diem but I couldn't just NOT work.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

If I became a millionaire, I'd leave bedside nursing in a New York minute.

Pay off the mortgage. Go casual, work two days a month to keep my license and go back to school full time.

Yes

No

H*** NO!!! I would be lying if I said I would continue to work as a nurse if I won the lotto. My feet and back hurt everyday. I am not appreciated and have to listen to insults of angry patients and family member with ineffective coping. Not to mention having to run behind lazy CNAs and beg them to do the job they are being paid for. I would have to be a "psych" nurse in need of medications myself to keep doing this job as a millionaire.

Specializes in Post Anesthesia.

no NO NONONO!!!!- (depends- would have to be more than 1mil)

Specializes in Geriatrics/Family Practice.

Yes, I think I would get bored not working after a while. I've heard to many horror stories of people who win the lottery ending up worse than before they won, so I would attempt to keep my life somewhat consistant and simple.

Specializes in Community Health, Med-Surg, Home Health.

Would invest money and work part time (maybe).

Specializes in Jack of all trades, and still learning.
Yes, but I might not work in the US, because of the chance of being sued.

Unfortunately that risk is becoming world wide. I would have once said, yes, I woudl work, to keep my skills up. Now? I really really don't know. It would be nice to live without having to look sideways and examine every little thing we do...
