  1. sorry to hear!! I wish you luck, just keep applying! at least now you know you don't like that right? I also attempted something like this. I worked for a well known food mftr and it was awful! waiting around for "something to go wrong" and starting a DVD for the NEO. I couldnt stand it! yea, I was a job that ppl retire in and love to have, but not my thing!
  2. If you have these concerns, I would speak with a counselor at school and see what the policy is. If something ever happens that you are needing to report, when you make a report it is a good idea to state that you would like a follow up regarding what happens with the issue. Now that being said, they will most likely not give you all the information, but they can help ease your mind. Best of luck!
  3. I could make a super long reply, but it would all boil down to me trying to explain you need to speak up! if you don't now, you will continue to take and be treated as such. My advice is to ensure that you have an unbiased witness present for such conversation if you are able to do this in person. I wish you the best of luck, feel free to DM me if you ever need! we need to be in this place to support all of us, all around!
  4. First I want to apologize that the traveler did this to you, as a traveler for several years this give the rest of us a bad rep! shame on that person!! also, I agree with other post, stick up for yourself and don't accept assignment. you know what you can handle day in and day out, sometime we do just need to say NO and let that person be upset with you. you control your license not them and people don't always look at it as such. as long as you charted all the things, you are cya and doing everything you can for the pt, you are amazing! always know as long as you do all you can with everyone, everytime, you are great! keep telling yourself that! you got this! I would also have written an incident report or at minimum use your chain of command if you are not comfortable writing a report right away- even though they may have you complete one.
  5. I agree that its usually 2 hours. (saying that, I am a traveler for many years now), had current facility tell me I "called out late", when I called in 3 hrs early. so I always ask still.
  6. yes, don't take this on yourself, you don't want to put yourself in a situation where your risk yourself or retaliation issues.
  7. 1. Co-worker called, she was going to be taking my load of pts for noc shift that SHE picked up on her own, and I happened to answer the phone, she said she didn't know that this particular movie was on tv and she was going to watch the rest of it before she came in that noc b/c she didn't have dvr!!!! I was NOT the nicest person when she decided to arrive, almost 90 min later. so this is the same (grrrrrrrr) nurse that is very much a person to pass her work off b/c she didn't want to get out of her chair to help (do her job) her own pts. horrid when she was charge nurse. srry, she aggravates me to no end and I don't even see her anymore!... but she is the same one that knew she was the on call CM for 7 floors in a huge busy hospital and didn't call in, and just didn't show up. but, coincidently, a week before, she offhandedly tried to get others to work for her b/c she had a family reunion in town she had wanted to go to. how this idiotic horrid role model woman didn't get fired, I will never know. 2. Another co-worker was on her way to work an developed a migraine and decided to drive back home instead. 3. diff job, co-worker decided to go to other job instead b/c it made more money, and he couldn't call in earlier b/c he had JUST gotten the last min call in... idiot. as for the "giving a reason", our charges' were told they have to ask, whatever you say is up to you. some cn's didn't even ask b/c like others and myself, I don't care. your not there, I have to find someone else to work, see ya.
  8. post hyst; blo; appy.. started at 10, next am down to 3, d/t religion wouldnt not accept any blood product or replacement product, went home to pass on and did the next day. I understand why, but its still hard to know that happened and I can do something to help and just don't. it will always feel weird to me.
  9. thanks for the info, but i was just seeing how you were doing honestly. i have a great job, and a huge timeline ahead of me for my career. heck, if i was to get another job, that would be bad bad bad
  10. this recently came up in place of work d/t the tympanic not being as accurate as it needs to be for our population of pts, well, it was ordered before anyone else was aware of it. kinda of annoyed btw. this one states you need to wait 10 full minutes after a hearing aid comes out; myringotomies &/or PE tubes will give a false reading d/t scarring (our population is on the high end of these); if they have been laying on it you have to wait like 10 minutes... it was a lot of stuff before even getting to the fact that they are usually done quick and not correctly positioned that you will get an inaccurate reading. i can find the company info if you want, they did the research! lol just my 2 cents -H-
  11. and i bet money, GOOD money, that the toe .vs. tub got narcs! lmao.. had to say it! sorry
  12. u have your adn, you passed your boards? you can work anywhere!! (where i am anyhow! lol)
  13. where i live we have a "critical care university" that takes nurses of whatever status and puts them thru another program that you work and learn each floor in the hospital, then its a job in ICU. not that you have to stay in ICU, but its a start. and heck, you said you are looking for your niche, you might find it when your not looking. on a side note, do you know how many ppl dont find their "niche" for years? i wouldnt worry about finding what you want, get your experience so you can find what you want.. gl! -H-
