If you won the lottery, would you continue to work?

Specializes in Utilization Management.

Yes, but I might not work in the US, because of the chance of being sued.

I would definitely go to volunteer status and do a few medical missions per year.

I might join the Red Cross disaster team also.

I don't like not working. I think it's important to make myself useful to society.

What a fine idea, Im so glad I thought of it. LOL. Nah but really, that is a good idea. Its my dream to go help out those who are less fortunate.

Specializes in Critical Care.

Yes, but on MY terms. ON my terms, baby. I would probably use the money to prop up a career as a nursing journalist.

Reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy's routine about winning the lotto: "Everybody says they'd quit their jobs if they won, but not me! NO. I'd become such a PIA at work that they'd have no choice BUT fire me. Then I'd have my lotto winnings - AND UNEMPLOYMENT!"

Specializes in Nursing Professional Development.

I would either go the "Jeff Foxworthy route" or go part time. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had absolutely no functional role in society.

But I definitely would NOT continue to work full time in my current job.

Specializes in Neuro/Med-Surg/Oncology.

When I felt like it . .. . . .:D

I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had absolutely no functional role in society.

but you could hire someone to figure that out for you.:)

Specializes in Telemetry, Case Management.

Oh hell no!!!

That being said, I figure I will win the lottery sometime in the near future ONLY BECAUSE I now finally have a job I really like and want to stay here for the next twenty years. So, given the way fate-life-karma-what-have-you is, I figure NOW:bugeyes: I'll win the lottery since I didn't in ALL those years on the floor when I abso-smurfly hated my job!!!!

But I don't like it enough to keep working if I had $240 million bucks!!!!:D

Specializes in Public Health, DEI.

I'd quit that day and hire someone to go clean out my desk for me!

I would still do something, but whatever that something might be, it would be on my terms. And I would take a long vacation before I even started thinking about it!
