Something happened to me at Wednesday that i thought i would never hear.
I was told by my team leader that bouncing breasts are very inappropriate in the workplace.
There had been several complains on me for a long time (she claims).
And that i from now on, always had to use a bra.
Was she right to correct me like that, should i complain on her ?
Your rights have been violated. This is what we've all been talking about on this board for years, being bullied by clueless members of upper management. I won't take it any more. I will march in protest with you any day sister! Oh..Uh.....you're coming to the protest braless right??
Not it's not like that at all. I just haven't been careful enough.
I also called a co-worker that was surprised that i hadn't been reprimanded before. So i am taking this seriously, and also feel bad about the two days between i got the message and the weekend. However, i am really the only one out her getting reprimanded for braking the dress code ?
I haven't tried, but i am sure i will not pass the pencil test (or even a dozen pencils). After what I can remember, my size is 40ddd so i have a hard time finding good ones.
But i will consider getting a professional bra fitting :)
Go to Lane Bryant. They have good bras there and can fit you professionally.
My reason for not wearing one, is that i get very easy shoulder painfrom the bra straps
. It's not to get attention !
Give me a break. Shoulder straps are adjustable on most bras. If you don't wear underwire, at least wear a sports bra. They are comfy. I'm surprised you didn't get reprimanded sooner.
Some women are just more comfortable without all the binding. Everyone is different. Try wearing a medium weighted sleeveless tank under your scrub top. Make sure it covers everything under all circumstances. Certainly no one can object to that if your nipples don't show through. Look, if you keep them out of sight, to me it's a non-issue. Obviously though, for your supervisor to bring up such a sensitive subject, something is amiss. It had to be just as uncomfortable for her as it was for you.
However, i am really the only one out her getting reprimanded for braking the dress code ?
About not wearing a bra? Yeah, you are.
Look, at my highest level of business I'm a 36B. I won't even go out without an UNDERWIRE for sheer vanity's sake, let alone looking obscene and sloppy.
Get fitted for the right bra.
:)
honey, you should never, ever jiggle at work.we nurses do an awful lot of running.
and MY boobs hurt (34c's) just thinking of running braless.
40dd's and i'd have black eyes.
i like the idea of a sports bra.

Yes, Thanks !
I have a hole bunch of them.
And i am definitely wearing one tomorrow.
I wasn't really angry at the team leader for saying what she did.
But i felt she was so direct in her description of me, and almost yelled at me.
Why couldn't she have told me earlier in a more pleasant way ?
witchy, if you're an or nurse, you're not moving around a lot.and, you have to gown up also.
dang, i might even consider trying to go braless w/the right circumstances.:)

Leslie, I'm going to disagree with you on the not moving around a lot! We circulators spend the majority of the day on our feet, running down hallways to get something the surgeon needs, running blood gases and specimens to the tube system, running for crash carts, monitoring the room etc.
Scrubs are the ones who gown up, and pretty much stand in one place.
I think also, in the OR we don't offend easily. We see naked people all day..My coworkers have seen me naked(when I had surgery).I've had surgeons scrub pants fall down at the field and had to pull them back up for him/her. We've had surgeons come out of the locker room in their boxers, because they've grabbed the wrong size scrub pants. (our scrubs are kept in the lounge)No one freaked out, although there were a couple of wolf whistles and a couple of people threw dollar bills! After that, I'm really not going to notice or care that Nurse So-and So may be jiggling.

Kath,
Yes, it would have been more tactful to have said something MUCH sooner instead of blasting you (yelling).

You know, I think I know why some people are disagreeing. I know how to make everyone see things clearly.
We have not seen what is going on. You should post pics, in random positions, with varying cut scrub tops, the way you are comfortable. I would wager everyone would see them, and agree you are fine just the way you are. I bet after seeing a few dozen pictures, or maybe a video, all relevant opinions will agree, stay as you are. Or come to my facility. After all, without seeing what it looks like how can we judge?
P.S. Men have more experience staring, I mean, providing objective advice about matters regarding clothing and fashion, so trust us to give you good advice about making sure you look good.
It is normal for a workplace to require that their employees follow a certain dress code. Of course, it isn't always enforced. I think they should have mentioned this to you a long time ago. You may be surprised how much better you feel if you get a proper bra fitting. You may find that it is more comfortable. However, if you still don't like it, the sports bra with a tank or something over it would probably be fine. That's what I wear, but I'm smaller chested.
