The fact that this never crossed your mind, is perhaps another good reason to wear a bra :). I don't think my manager was wrong to point this out since it had created a few reactions. My first reaction was that she could have told me before. Still it's my responsibility entirely. I thought that giving my shoulders a rest from the bra some times would go unnoticed. It did not, and far from it. BTW "Grateful4Blessings" i work with rehabilitation, so there is no life and death situation, (not that it matters). My biggest concern now is that i hope i will not be remembered as the braless nurse . I am always using a bra at work now, still i feel some anxiety for jiggling. I am glad that every one has given their honest opinion. Still i am slightly surprised of all the reactions. Are there so few that have never reflected over how not using a bra in the western culture have become so stigmatised ? Is it really just if a woman are wearing a bra because they believe that it is part of the cultural norm and that not wearing a bra would lead to social exclusion ?

I thought i would give a last feedback to this thread, and also point out a few things. I am using a loose scrub top yes, but i also have a smaller t-shirt inside. For the record i was wearing a bra most of the time, i just needed a day of once or twice a week. I thought it wasn't a big deal, it was. I have talked with my manager, and she was right in correcting me. She had overheard talk among patients and visitors. She had also tried to give me hints before, that's why she felt she had to be so direct. The good thing is that, i have bought some very good bras. I think the main problem was that i always bought a bra in a hurry. I didn't want to annoy the stores by spending a long time trying. Thanks for the all the well meant tips about mammaplasty. However i have a strong back, never had a back problem. My mother who is about my size has never had a back problem. OK i have a new bra and it feels great. It gives me great support and keep things from moving most of the time. There are some jiggle when i walk down stairs or lean over, i hope they can live with it !? :uhoh21:

Yes, Thanks ! I have a hole bunch of them. And i am definitely wearing one tomorrow. I wasn't really angry at the team leader for saying what she did. But i felt she was so direct in her description of me, and almost yelled at me. Why couldn't she have told me earlier in a more pleasant way ?

Not it's not like that at all. I just haven't been careful enough. I also called a co-worker that was surprised that i hadn't been reprimanded before. So i am taking this seriously, and also feel bad about the two days between i got the message and the weekend. However, i am really the only one out her getting reprimanded for braking the dress code ?

40 DD breast is large, though it's not abnormal in any way. I do understand i am wrong now. And this post has been a big wake up call for me . But i also feel that there are cultural differences between US and Canada.

I haven't tried, but i am sure i will not pass the pencil test (or even a dozen pencils). After what I can remember, my size is 40ddd so i have a hard time finding good ones. But i will consider getting a professional bra fitting :)

My reason for not wearing one, is that i get very easy shoulder pain from the bra straps . It's not to get attention !

Something happened to me at Wednesday that i thought i would never hear. I was told by my team leader that bouncing breasts are very inappropriate in the workplace. There had been several complains on me for a long time (she claims). And that i from now on, always had to use a bra. Was she right to correct me like that, should i complain on her ?
