ok well just found this out tonight at clinical. We got our grades last week (well our grades before our final this week), one of the students was told "your done" they got a unsatisfactory in clinical (med errors) and if you get a "U" in clinical you fail the program.

Now this is where it gets good. This person has been on probation since 2nd semester - now they fail clinical - BUT they are going to let them pass IF they do a paper. The reason why is the school does not want a law suit. UN FREAKIN BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!

Guess the school is in a law suit now for getting rid of one student (student is playing the race card) and they don't want anybody else mad!!!!

Im just so mad - I work hard - and now I see somebody else slide thru - AAAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!:angryfire Im sorry I just had to vent!!!!!!

I have 24 days left and then Im outta of there :w00t:

Well if all those people know including the BON then I'd say let them do whatever they will do......the BON isnt the type to just let things go so I'd say as long as what you say is happening truly is happening then it will be taken care of soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........

Happy venting!!!!

I seriously doubt that a student who has truly lied/cheated their way through nursing school will ever be able to become a nurse- they'd never be able to pass boards.

If the BON is already looking into it then that should be the end of it because ultimately it's up the BON to decide if she is morally fit to be granted a license.

The school may be staying out of it because they know something that you don't know and are going to allow the BON to handle this. If the BON decides that this person can be licensed then that is that and it's nobody else's business.

SWNL, don't let this eat you up it's so not worth it. Focus on school, graduate, pass boards and MOVE ON.

I agree - just sometimes you have to write it or say it - to get it off your chest - so I thought I could do that here - thats all - done - I said it - felt good to say my opinion now I will go on and study for finals this thursday and graduate in 24 days and hope I won't see this person ever again

Good for you.... go kick butt on finals! Congrats on graduating soon! Im sure you will be a great nurse! :grad:

Wow- I think some of you are being hard on the OP.

I'd be livid too. Nursing school is hard work. I wouldn't want to sit back and watch someone who not only doesn't deserve it..but isn't safe slide through.

To the OP....vent, steam, and work hard to be better than her. Good luck to you!

I cannot emphasize enough how little the issues of nursing school matter even one day after you graduate, let alone in your career. My class had one passionate battle after another and yet 15 minutes after we graduated these things were irrelevant. Let it go, "shake the dust off your feet" and be proud of your accomplishment.

Good luck in your career!

I would not allowed other people's problem to get me upset. As long it does not affect me, I would not worry about it. You have 24 days left, so focus on graduation instead of other students. The world itself is unfair. You cannot worry about every single problem, you get your heart worked out for something that has nothing to do with you. It is not worth it.

I agree. We had a few unfair things, not quite as extreme as what was described, in my nursing school. They were very frustrating. We had a student hit another nursing student in the hospital cafeteria in front of several students as the instructor was walking in, then she pulled the race card and got away with it because she called the NAACP. She ended up failing the final semester due to poor grades (probably a source of her own frustration), but nevertheless many people were frustrated with that scenario.

I agree, however, focus on your own successes. Nursing school will soon become a distant memory. But still, the OP should be able to vent here, just like we nurses do, without being scolded.

I can feel your frustration and agree wholeheartedly with it. After all my hard work, I would feel that it was somewhat cheapened by the low standards your school is accepting from this student. There is still a chance that she will pass her boards and go on to serve as a detriment to the image of nursing. My husband has been hospitalized 7 times this year, and speaking from the other side of the bed, I feel that he (and any of us for that matter) deserves better care than someone with her history can provide. Is there a standard or not?

ok - im not letting this person hinder my grades - and i know you don't have to make the best grades to be a good nurse - i am venting - can you honestly say if you knew for 100% that a student in your class

1. took a disc with tests on it and made copies & got caught

2. broke into a locked room @ the school

3. comes to class intoxicated

4. multiple med errors

5. failed clinical but aloud to graduate

truthfully would that not make you mad or at least disappointed in your school?

guess thats the big thing is im disappointed in the school - im venting, im not quiting

whoooooooaaaa!!!

you're getting way too concerned about the faults of another student.

from what you're saying, life's circumstances (i.e., "what goes around, comes around") will catch-up with your classmate.

keep our eyes on the prize!!!!

that's you passing the program and getting your license.

we're all rooting for you here!

:w00t:

welcome to nursing! :caduceus:
