I'm not going to turn this post into a pity party. I didn't give one hundred percent this semester when I was taking OB and Med Surg. I started out doing that and then went out a downward slope. I passed OB but I missed passing Med Surg by four points. Even if I did just barely passed I would of felt like I passed but I didn't know a lot in the end. I believe everything happens for a reason and I hope to be able to retake it this fall. I plan on studying this summer as to be prepared for this fall and hopefully get an A. This was the wake up call that I needed I never failed as class so I'm not going to ignore it. I guess the whole point of this post was to vent and make lemons into lemonade.

I'm sorry you didn't pass this semester, but it looks like you've already found the motivation you need to make a wonderful grade in the fall. Keep your head up and you'll do great.

This has to be tough for you, but wow..it sounds like you're definitely making lemonade :) hang in there...and good luck with it next semester (but I doubt you'll need any luck this time around!) It's just encouraging to hear someone looking on the bright side of things in the midst of a tough situation, so thank you!
Thank you all for all your encouraging words.

I'm sorry that you did not pass your course. But I have to say, it is a rare circumstance (online, or in person) where the student owns up to it, and does not blame it on everyone else or everything else. You certainly learned the hard way (and trust me, it could've been harder) that you get out of it what you put into it. It sounds as though you will be able to continue in your program, which is a great thing (not everyone gets a second chance). I wish you the best of luck next time. This experience will only make you stronger:up:

I failed OB.
Instead of graduating this July, I will be graduating in December.
I had a lot on my plate and instead of ramming steel down my spine, I wimped out.
NEVER AGAIN!!
That's okay.
We will make it through.
And boy oh boy! I understand OB now like I never thought I would!
That's my silver lining.
Chin up!
It's a blow to the ego but you know what you did wrong, just like I did.
That's the key. Know what went wrong, don't do it again.
Cheers to you and be proud you have the integrity to own your mistakes (a HUGE part of being successful) and that you have the guts to go on!!

Just study hard. You dont have to earned an A to pass just do your best. C equals RN. Good luck to you this fall.

Bummer.....but, at least you recognize that you need to give it more effort and you have a great attitude in that you want to keep going. There are quite a few people in my class who repeated the first semester and some who will be repeating the 3rd semester....so, it happens. Nursing school is definitely not easy. I admire your positive attitude! Keep on pushing and you will succeed!

The best way to learn is from our mistakes. We are not perfect. However, many find someone or some thing to "blame" it on. You are accepting responsibility: You get a huge pat on the back! My intuition tells me that you will do your absolute best in repeating the class. Count it as a life lesson and move on to be successful. I applaud you for your commitment, God Bless!

I'm really sorry your failed Med/Surg Unique87. I truly want to thank you for coming on allnurses and sharing your experience with us. As a brand new nursing student that starts in August, it's really important for me and others like me to be constantly reminded of what is at stake once we start nursing school ---no matter how sobering. Thanks for your honesty and candor.

Coming from a student who failed a class as well, not passing was one of the best things to happen to me as a student. I really realized what I needed to do in order to pass and what I needed to grow in. It sucks at first but if you can (wo)man up and realize your mistakes, it will make you stronger in the end

Do you use any NCLEX study guides when studying for exams? Try getting Pearson's Exam Cram or Saunders, they both come with CD's and have pre and post tests in the book, they are divided by section & system so you can study for NCLEX and exams at the same, that would give you a great leg up over the summer as well as keeping other sections you passed fresh in your mind. Keep your head up, you'll do fine :)
