Will there never be another surge of positive cases and deaths now?

Coming from a nurse the question is simply a bit more naive than I’d expect. Unless it’s only a veiled way of criticizing those who have put a lot of the blame of how the pandemic has evolved in the U.S. on President Trump’s doorstep?
First of all, the OUTGOING administration are still in charge for another two months. They are also not at all doing what they can to assure a smooth transition.
Secondly, look at the world around you. Look at all the countries that are struggling with big outbreaks and high death tolls. What is one of the things they all have in common? They do not have President Trump leading their countries. So of course it’s not as simple as new leadership automatically leading to the cessation of disease spread. This is a pandemic that large parts of the world is having difficulties controlling.
What I am hoping that we’ll see in the U.S. with new leadership, is a more structured and consistent approach. I think it will be helpful to not have a President who tweets ”liberate” this state or that one, as state leadership attempts to bring community spread under control. I think it will be helpful to have a President who supports his scientists instead of sabotaging and disparaging them. I think it will be helpful to have a President who doesn’t view conflict as a strategy and who doesn’t habitually fan the flames of discord.
Somehow you’ve ended up in a place where choosing to wear a mask or not, has become a symbol of which political party you vote for. That is not a constructive way to tackle a pandemic.
This person probably isn't a nurse (doesn't claim to be). I think they are probably a CNA. A passive-aggressive CNA:)

Is the first ”some” the same ”some” as the second ”some”? Or are we talking different groups of people here? Is there one ”not” too many in your question? Is the second ”not” really supposed to be there?
To answer what I think you meant to ask: I do not personally know a single epidemiological simpleton. Meaning I don’t know a single person who thinks that any one individual, even one as powerful as a President, can make a pandemic go poof in no time at all. Do these epidemiological simpletons exist? Well considering there’s almost 8 billion of us on this planet, perhaps one or two... Why do you want to know?
I’ve found this entire thread confusing. Perhaps OP, you could just come out and state the point you wish to make?
Thank you ?
Even Biden himself said Trump is the cause of all the COVID deaths in the US. My question is clear. Will there be declines now that Biden is president elect? Since someone better will be in office, why is it wrong for me to ask when will this better come?

How would you imagine that the president influences the number of American deaths or infections in this pandemic? How do you think Trump influenced it versus other world leaders? What might be the differences that one could reasonably anticipate from a Biden covid response versus the Trump response...just from listening to and observing them over the past 9 months?
This covid trajectory will be better, largely, when Trump supporters decide to wear masks, avoid crowds and practice good hand sanitizing as a matter of habit and duty rather than whining about how unfair it is to their freedom. The evidence of the change in their behavior will lag several weeks so...

Yes, Biden did say a stupid thing but he has had foot in mouth disease all his career (I'm old enough to remember:) However, who could answer your question? How do we know when "better" will come? It depends on the cooperation on the American people which is very difficult to predict. You are asking a question that has no answer. All we can say for sure is that it will be better when the vaccine is here.
The fact that 2 million US citizens chose to get on airlines this weekend to travel home DESPITE CDC asking everyone to stay home/stay at college blasted on every TV TV/cable news, .newspaper and some emails I've read doesn't bode well for HHS, state health systems and healthcare facilities to get virus under control.
PA expected to run out of ICU beds by December due to rapid increase in hospitalization rates past 2 week ( av. <500 to almost 4,000 11/23) + Thanksgiving get togethers. Were seeing the coronavirus spread at large and small events alike now. On Tuesday, there were 672 COVID-19 patients in Philadelphia hospitals, up from 542 on Thursday.
PA Health Secretary Dr. Levine even ordered bars and restaurants to stop serving as of 5PM Wednesday, Thanksgiving eve --biggest sale night of the year traditionally.

So long as the number of cases remains low, that's 2.3% of a small number. If we allow the number of cases to increase then that's 2.3% of a much larger number. If it's allowed to work it's way through the US population unmitigated, then that's about 7.5 million deaths in the US. That's SIX TIMES the number of Americans who died in the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam all combined. To say that wearing a mask and socializing with extended family over zoom is too much trouble to avoid having that many deaths is pathetic. But you're right in that we do need to live with it, which means implementing ways to reduce it's impact, not pretending like it doesn't exist.
There's no legally defined definition of "President Elect", but the commonly used definition historically is that it's the candidate who will be President barring some sort of highly unusual circumstances. It might be one thing if there were any court cases, either current or proposed, that could alter the election result, but there isn't. The Trump campaign has yet to assert the claims of fraud in court that they are claiming in public (even sketchy lawyers know better than to commit perjury).
It's not unconstitutional, and not even a legally gray area, whether governments can implement public health measures, actually they are legally required to. I don't even know how to respond to your claim that wearing a mask to limit the spread of the pandemic is somehow similar to making Jews identifiable through yellow stars to facilitate their eventual capture, imprisonment, and extermination.
What I find most disturbing about this response is that you claim to have been to the "hot spots", which means you have witnessed the suffering and death associated with this pandemic- yet you take this stance.
I also find disturbing that you associate wearing a mask with the yellow star of David that Jews were forced to wear to be identified by the Nazis. I have a very close friend who lost just about her entire family in Chelmno and Auschwitz. The people who were forced to wear the yellow star of David had their rights stripped away and were brutalized and murdered. So there is absolutely NO comparison between being asked to wear a mask to protect others and yourself from the virus and the Jews being forced to wear the yellow star of David. The comparison of the two is repellent.
