The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

I was 18 when I started. I am now 21 and will graduate at 22 with my BSN.

LPN at age 50. Now 55 starting RN bridge. ?

I graduated with my LPN when I was 21 years old. Got married and raised two sons, then finally decided at age 47, it was time to get my RN. Was accepted to start a ADN program in august 2013, but hubby got a new job in march 2013 out of state. I was very upset and went through the process of transfering my credits and finding a new college that accepted all of them. I am currently waiting for my letter of acceptance to start in january 2014. I pray I will get in and if I do I will be 51 when i graduate! :sarcastic:

I just got accepted into a BSN program and will begin in January, 2014. I am 27, and will be 30 when I graduate. I was 21 when I originally graduated college; this is a career change for me and I'm so excited!

I started nursing school at age 20 (after finishing pre-req's) and decided I didn't like it after the first year of the program. Changed my mind, transferred my nursing courses to a new program at 23 (I LOVE IT NOW) and will graduate when I am 24 with my Associates in nursing. Would have loved to be a 21 year old nurse but I feel that the life experiences I gained between then and now will make me a much better nurse. :) Soooo...ultimate answer: 24 years old!

well I guess you asked what age I started. So that would be age 20. and I was one of the youngest. There were three 19 year olds, another 20 year old, lots of 20 and 30 somethings, a couple 40 somethings, and one lady in her late 50's in my program. The program I'm in now has soooo many age groups and a lot more males! It's great, actually.

I was 19 when I started nursing school. I was 22 when I received my BSN and got my RN license.

awesome! don't let the older nurses make you feel like you dont know anything or treat you badly cause your young. sometimes younger nurses know even more cause everything is so fresh! thats my fear. (I will be barely 24 when I graduate) but I've worked at a hospital so I think I know how to handle em ?

I am in my first semester and I am 50 and loving it! I think nursing is a calling and no matter how old you are, you can do it!

51 you. Old male with no nursing skills I graduate in 8 weeks (Dec 2013)

I'm now in my late 40s but I had been out of school 30 years so I had to retake all the high school subjects and get accepted into the program. I am now in my 3rd semester and going strong. So if you want it go get it :3

Total career change. started at 28, graduated at 32 - took 4 long years to earn my ASN part-time while working full-time, am about to start my new career and am starting to look at BSN programs.
