The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

I ran my own business and worked in Animal Health part time for years...taking my second turn at life and am applying to the Nursing Program for either Sept. 2014 or January 2015 start. First time TEAS V score (after being out of school for years) I got a 76 overall and a 92 in Reading; I will be retaking that after having now completed both College Algebra and A&P and hoping the Math and Science will improve. I have a 3.57 GPA and and hoping that and a higher TEAS score will get me into the program. Looking to get my ADN and then go for BSN online while working. Never let anyone tell you that you are too old...my Advisor at college said that my attitude and that I seem younger than my years will serve me well. For the younger women....keep telling yourself that you can do anything and nothing can stop you; for the older students like myself...age is just a number and sometimes the experience in life gives you a more mature outlook on things and that can work in your favor. I am 56....and age has never been a hindrance for me. The women in my family live into their 90's....so I figure I have a lot of life left to live!

I feel like I'm going to be the oldest in my class too but with age come more wisdom and responsibility! Just want to be able to find a job at that age.
