The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

Hi,
Well I was 28 when I started nursing as a LPN
I went back to school when I was 45 for my diploma RN
I am now 66, and guess what I'm doing? Going back to school for BSN!
It will probably take me until I'm 70, but I don't care! I love to learn & grow in knowledge! It keeps your mind strong & productive
And you never know when you may need to use your skills!
In fact, I'm planning to use my education as a Faith Community Nurse!
Happy trails everyone!
Returned back to school full time after being out for an extended period when I was 27 (fall of '10) finished finally with 3 associate degrees (natural sciences, behavioral & social sciences, and humanities) last may '13. (Last year wast first attempt at applying to 2 nursing programs (got rejected from both within days of turning 30 last May) bummed me out haha and I waited until this application period to try again...applied to 3 programs this time around (was going to apply to more but I had already heard back from my first choice that I got accepted into their Spring '15 start)
So I will be 31 starting my ADN program I'm spring '15 and I have every intention to continue on and also get my BSN after :)
Oh WOW! I'm not the only one! I'm 58 too and just finished up my pre reqs. Waiting now to hear if I have been accepted into nursing school this fall. I don't feel 58 either. I play on two tennis leagues, ALTA and USTA and am a very active grandmother. I just applied for a PCT prn job for the summer at the hospital I hope to work at. Crazy, huh? : )
