The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

24! :( felt like I got a late start but better late then never - the time passes regardless of whether your in school or not - why not get something out of it! :) Good Luck to all!!!

Well, Im 22 and I hope to get started when I am around 24...I used to feel that I was way behind becuase I didnt know what I wanted to do when I was 18 and first going to college, but I found out that it is never too late to begin any career.

Love the post, I'll be 24 soon and hoping to get accepted into the nursing program in 2014! Finger crossed!! So I'll be 26 graduating with a ADN.. good luck everyone! Age isn't a factor, its possible!!

Started my LNA course when I was 17, and the oldest person in my class was a 42 year old man looking for a change of career! And we had everyone in between. :) Same guy is going for his RN now, and I'm starting a BSN program at age 18 in the fall! Nursing is for anyone, of any age, with a true dedication and passion for patient care.

I just turned 42 Jan. 2nd and I'll be applying in a couple of weeks!! I pray that I have my BSN and working as a RN by the time I turn 44!! With God, all things are possible!!

I was 39 when I started my Pre reqs and I am 40 now just starting the ADN program...hoping I won't be the oldest one and hoping my age gives me a little advantage in being a more focused student??!!

Specializes in Pediatrics Telemetry CCU ICU.

I was 20 when I graduated from LPN school.....now at the ripe old age of 46 I'm going into the bridge program for my ASN....who knows..I just may continue on at this point. I had a lot of good experience as an LPN and I love nursing. I don't think I could do anything else for a career and love it this much.

I am 21 and enrolled in a ADN program!

25 when I started. I'll be 27 this May when I graduate with my ADN and start my BSN. ?

I'm 55 now and graduating this spring. Hope to pass the NCLEX before I turn 56. I don't plan on continuing to RN.

Became an EMT at 35, now applying for ASN at 38. Will hopefully finish my RN at 41. :nurse:

Hopefully I will be starting the program this fall, granted I get accepted, and that will put me at 19 ?
