  1. If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. -Anne Bradstreet
  2. It is possible, and it's never too late. My mom started nursing school in her 40s, and I had several people in my cohort who were around your age. My daughter was diagnosed with autism about a month before I started nursing school. Juggling all my daughter's appointments and getting her transferred to a new school while going to school full-time and working part-time has been the most difficult thing I've ever done. Also, for some reason I decided this was a good time to have another baby. It's been a crazy ride, but I survived. I just graduated with honors last week, at 7 months pregnant. The biggest thing that helped me was family support. My mom has been amazing with helping me get my daughter to her appointments when I had class or work. Do you have family or friends that can help out when you're busy with school?

  4. Both schools I applied to only looked at your GPA in 4 specific classes and your TEAS score. The classes were different for each school, but both used a point system, with 14 being the highest score. They just went down the list and accepted however many students they had space for.
  5. I don't think 8 is too many. I only applied to 2 schools, mainly because they are the only schools within a decent distance from my house. Luckily I was accepted at both.
  6. You can still do it! I had a lot of issues the first time I went to college and I got a D in chemistry, along with completely failing some other classes. I went back to school 7 years later, retook chemistry (got an A this time!) and worked really hard to bring up my GPA. Now I've been accepted into a nursing program starting in January. It is possible to come back from a history of bad grades from your first college experience, it just takes a lot of hard work, but if you're determined, you can get it done. Good luck!
  7. You have to take the test in person, but there are options for people who work during the day. I don't know where in Kansas you are, but Wichita Area Technical College offers GED classes from 6-9 pm, plus they offer online classes. You do have to go in for the assesments, but you can access all the study material online.
  8. I could have applied to the nursing program after one semester of pre reqs, but I waited til I had completed a second semester so I could also work on my co reqs. I was accepted into the program to start in Jan 2015, so I will end up taking 3 semester (full-time) of pre and co reqs before starting the nursing program.
  9. Good luck! I hope you get in.
  10. I'm really interested in forensic nursing, specifically getting my SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) certification.
  11. I called Century today and they said they are not requiring the $100 deposit this time.
  12. I'll be turning down my spot at Inver Hills. I know quite a few people who were applying there along with Century, so I think there's a good chance you'll get in.
  13. Got my acceptance letter from Inver Hills today.
  14. Congratulations! Time to celebrate.
