The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

Of course not! My Dad is 83 this month and can out walk me in a minute (well maybe not so much after his heart attack a few weeks back, but he's back up now and doing what he does, still works and travels) I can out walk my two daughters that are 25 and 22. And I still dance and get silly at Disneyland....kid at heart and mind.

Prayers for your Dad tnicnat. I lost my dad two years ago at age 81, on March 20th to a heart attack. He would be 83 now and was working on his car when he passed away. It sounds like we might have a LOT in common. I hope your dad continues to improve and enjoy his work and travels for many years.

I am 34 and will be starting ADN program in August, YAYY! I hope to have Bachelor's by 40.

you dont look a day over 22!!! congrats on your nursing journey!

I will be 33 when I start my nursing program this August :)

Starting August 2014 and I'm 44!

Specializes in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

I was 27 when I started and will be 30 when I graduate. I was afraid my brain was getting too inflexible from my present job and felt maybe my window was closing for my brain to be doing anymore critical thinking...but, it appears I just needed to get some of the cobwebs out. The life experience helps but I think it's amazing some of the very young people in my class and the way they handle themselves professionally and interpersonally is amazing. I could not have done it with the grace and brains they're doing it with, that's for sure. My age group (mid to late 20s) seems to be the larger percentage of our cohort and we're a bunch of loons.

Specializes in PCU, LTAC, Corrections.

I will be 29 and I will be 30 when I graduate from an accelerated MSN/CNL program.

Finished up a 22 year career in law enforcement, became a CNA and am currently in my second nursing semester at the age of 45. Bit of a shock getting into the classroom again after such a long time away, but that's what pre-reqs are for. ;)

I had a 20+ yeaRr career in accounting/finance, and started NS when I was 47. Graduated and passed NCLEX a few months shy of 50. The way I see it, I arrived late to the party, but at least I showed up! :)

I am 17 and I just started nursing school in January. I will be 19 when I graduate as an RN!

Specializes in NICU, Trauma, Oncology.

Career changing. Starting nursing program in the fall (hopefully) at 35. Will be 38 when I get my BSN and will likely go onto a DNP program part time after that for Acute Care NP
