The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

Right out of high school I went to college but not for Nursing. I really had no clue what I wanted to do with my life and I ended up quitting. At 18 I started working in a nursing home and this past August I went back to college at the age of 24, this time majoring in Nursing. I think it's the best decision I've ever made. I just turned 25 but I'm glad I'm older than the average college student. I feel more confident because I actually know what I want to do and that's Nursing :)
I was 17 when I started, lpn. I graduated the baby of the class at 18 and I'm now 19 working for pediatric home health. I can't say how it feel for the older of you but I sometimes feel odd saying that I'm a nurse. I want to go back for my RN soon but I want experience under my belt. Really no age is too young or too old to get an education. My dad alway said your education is the one thing nobody can take from you.

30 when I started prereqs. 33 when I earned my LVN. I'll have my RN by 37.
