The wonderful thing about nursing is that it is open to everyone of all ages. Please give a cheer to all the people who believe that age is not a factor in learning. And, to all the people who strive for knowledge regardless of age. How old were you when you started nursing school?

Specializes in Critical Care, Med-Surg, Psych, Geri, LTC, Tele,.

30 when I started prereqs. 33 when I earned my LVN. I'll have my RN by 37.

Right out of high school I went to college but not for Nursing. I really had no clue what I wanted to do with my life and I ended up quitting. At 18 I started working in a nursing home and this past August I went back to college at the age of 24, this time majoring in Nursing. I think it's the best decision I've ever made. I just turned 25 but I'm glad I'm older than the average college student. I feel more confident because I actually know what I want to do and that's Nursing :)

I'm starting my pre-reqs this fall at age 18... So hopefully starting nursing school at age 20 and finishing at age 22!

Specializes in Neuro/Med-Surg/Trauma ICU.

Started prereq 21.5, started adn 23, started rn-bsn 24, end adn 25, end bsn 26

29 years old

I will be 19 when I start nursing school this Fall. I am very excited! People who go back to school to change their career in nursing makes me think how amazing the nursing profession is!

Started taking pre reqs at 22 I will be graduating next match at 26

I'll be 36 when I finish by ADN next May.

I was 17 when I started, lpn. I graduated the baby of the class at 18 and I'm now 19 working for pediatric home health. I can't say how it feel for the older of you but I sometimes feel odd saying that I'm a nurse. I want to go back for my RN soon but I want experience under my belt. Really no age is too young or too old to get an education. My dad alway said your education is the one thing nobody can take from you.

Graduating next week with my ADN. I'm only 59. :nurse:

Just started this past January at the age of 31. Will be 33 when I graduate with an ADN. :)

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I enrolled in a fast-track LVN program at age 23 and completed it at age 24.

I enrolled in an LPN-to-RN bridge program at age 27.5 and graduated with an ASN degree at age 29.
