  1. People laughed at me when I told them I wanted to be a forensic nurse. Thanks for this it really makes me want to follow that path of becoming a forensic nurse. I found an online program through a college in California, need to do some more research on that because I couldn't find any schools in my state of WA to get my forensic nursing certificate.
  2. Make sure to review something daily! I'm in my 6th week of nursing school and time is flying by. Missing even a night or two of studying in a week throws me off. I also made notecards and kept them in my purse and would pull then out and review them ever chance I get. I bought a tablet because most instructors lecture from power points so I go along and take more detailed notes if needed. Good luck!
  3. Started taking pre reqs at 22 I will be graduating next match at 26
  4. If I hated it I would have gone into crime scene investigation or forensics. I am still thinking about taking a forensic nursing program after I graduate and possibly being a forensic nurse but we will see!
  5. update, after failing the first test I've managed to putt my grade back up to a high B! I've gotten A's on all the other exams and she started letting us use calculators on the last one. Glad I got past that, now into abbreviations woo!
  6. Thanks! I've been practicing and I'm definitely getting better! I have my next quiz thus coming Tuesday I feel more prepared. This teachers grading is a little strict. I didn't capitalize the L in mL and got the entire problem wrong despite doing the problem correctly.
  7. Just here to rant. This is my second week of nursing school and I totally bombed my first quiz 55% to be exact. It wouldn't be so bad but we are not allowed to use calculators! Ugh I just wish all of the math classes I have taken in college prepared me for this. I've always gotten A's in math and this is depressing for me. I've come too far and fail. I know I have plenty of time to bring my grade back up but I just can't seem to get the right numbers without using a calculator! . What makes it even more frustrating is all of the nurses I know are allowed to use them out in the field.
  8. I just finished AP 2. Got a B+ in 1&2. I watched a lot of lectures on YouTube, read chapters entirely, recorded my teachers lectures, reviewed my notes, quizlet and other sites worked great too. Make sure you study a little bit daily!
  9. I start my program in two weeks and the book we use is called calculate with confidence. Might want to check with your school and see what they use. If you're interested in the book I have the ISBN number is 9780323089319
  10. I was the same way but I learned I need to burn something in my brain to understand and remember it. I just use my iPhones voice recorder to record lectures! Cheaper than buying a recorder and I can plug headphones in or plug into my radio.
  11. I make flash card early and take them where ever I go! Look at them while you're in line at a drive through, waiting for an appointment any time you can! I also record lectures and listen to them in the car
  12. Short Vegas trip with a few girlfriends after graduation! It will be my gift from family.
  13. Spending as much time relaxing with friends and family! Getting my grants, loans and scholarships in order to live. All my titers and immunization a are uploaded and ready to go! Start class in three weeks!! ??
  14. My job, my own apartment, soon my social life.
  15. I have always wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I graduated high school and took a year off. I got a job working in an accounting firm and they offered to pay for my tuition to go to school for accounting. I took them up on the offer, but couldn't even last a year. I HATED accounting. I dropped out of college and a few years later I have birth to my son. The hospital experience I had was amazing and it made me realize this IS what I was meant to do. The next fall I enrolled to start taking my prerequisite classes for Nursing. That was 2.5 years ago and after being on a wait lost for two years I'm finally starting my nursing program March 31st! I'm so happy it's finally here it brings me to tears. I know these tears of happiness will soon turn to frustration And my social life will be non- existent for the next year but it will be worth it!
