How many years have you been a nurse? And how much longer do intend to work as one?

41years as a nurse. Just retired 6 months ago. The decision to retire was for me really a physical one. I would ( and did) continue to practice until I really started to feel to tired to continue my 50+ hours a week as a nursing administrator.

Specializes in ER, OR, PACU, TELE, CATH LAB, OPEN HEART.

34 years, everything from staff to director, multiple specialties. Ideally, another 10 years working. Gov't says 16 till Social Security. If I am lucky will be between 5 and 16 years till I retire. Nursing is so flexible and varied you have lots of options.

12 years. I will continue working in some capacity until I am no longer able.

Specializes in LTC, hospital, office.

been a nurse for 3 years, plan on working as one for quite a bit longer :)

7 years as an RN, but 51 now. Will go PRN then see what happens when hubbies military retirement kicks in when he turn 60 in 8 more years.

Specializes in Pediatric/Adolescent, Med-Surg.

2 years, all in pediatrics. I'm only 22 now, so who knows what the future holds. I do forsee myself being in nursing for a long, long time. :nurse:

18 yrs as a nurse

plan to work another 19 yrs till I'm 70.

thirteen years, nine in ltc and home health, four med-surg. currently working as an infection control coordinator for a large ltc. :nurse:

I feel like I was born a nurse, it's been so many years. I probably can never really retire unless something unexpected happens financially. :cry:

10 years...i am 36

i have worked mostly acute care.

think im in this for the long haul now although there were times when i had my doubts...

22 years in acute care, just accepted a nurse manager job and plan on working at least

20 to 25 more years.

30 years.............will evaluate when to retire when I find out my monthly share of my ex's State Retirement. Started at age 27.
