After having nurse's day come and go without our employer even acknowledging the fact that it was nurse's day, am just curious as to how other employers honor their nurses on that day? Look forward to your responses!!
We got something! A melted banana split that we didn't have time to eat! But we're grateful! lol. You'd think administration would realize by now that food we don't have time to eat does not show appreciation for the work we do. Oh-and we have to work 2 out of 3 weekends now (and we don't get a weekend differential of any kind), and they will no longer figure overtime hours into our PTO. Thanks so much! We'll remember how we were treated when things get better. We really aren't quite as stupid as they seem to think we are.

I agree with this last statement. When one is motivated to conduct an ongoing job search, that provides an explanation why certain employers can not keep long term employees. The time comes when it is so easy to make the decision to move on.
No such thing as nurse's week. It's 'healthcare week'. A banner was placed in the lobby. All got a cheap pen that write in BLUE (useless for any paperwork) and aides got a plastic clipboard with the hospital logo.
There was also a luncheon consisting of a turkey or ham sandwich and a diet or regular coke. The bun was so hard that people resorted to rolling the cold cuts and cheese and skipping the bun. I guess it's the thought that counts......
The unit I am working for covering a nurse's maternity leave (I work regional float pool), had an awesome plastic baggy with a note it in explaining the meaning of the contents and a very thoughtful thank you note for all we do. Things included a peanut in it's shell (for when we get a little nutty), a toothpick (to pick out the best things in life), a marble (for when we loose ours), a heart shaped candy (representing what we do), a paper clip, etc. Very thoughtful. All put together by the pedi oncology kiddos! I loved my baggy and shed a couple tears when it was handed to me by one of the pt's!
my admin remembered, bless his soul, and got me a Gevalia Hot Chocolate :)
We are a VERY small personal care agency.... 60-70 clients avg; 40-60 aides avg - majority of services paid by Medicaid... nearly 60% of revenue goes to aide payroll :)
I was blessed when he handed the cocoa to me and personally said "Thank you"
Our facility gave us goodie bags with candy, lip flavors for our lips, a pizza cutter with a slogan about no matter how you slice it how great we are. Also, they treated us to pizza and icecream. We voted on different nurses "most likely to win on american idol because they sing all day while they work safely etc. It was real nice. This week is employee appreciation week and today they served us free lunch and dinner for all employees. Yesterday we voted for "Employee of the year" one of our fine charge nurses, tomorrow is employee gifts, every day is something. For a small rural hospital I think it's pretty good.
Well Lets see...
We got a 2 x 4 change purse with the hospitals name on it
A goody bag with 3 pieces of peppermint and a hospice necklace for our badge.
My boss sent Happy nurses day cards to everyone through the mail.
They invited a drug rep who brought pizza.
The hopsital had a icecream social for all the nurses.(Off tonight so I missed it)
It was mainly small stuff but at least they acknowleged it.

By doing nothing, to go along with how they treat us on a daily basis. Consistent.
