Am I being realistic? Nursing school at 45?
Hey: I graduated in 09 at 49, my husband just graduated 2 weeks ago at 65! He also received the Kathryn Courtney award for excellence (she is the lady who started the school) and already has a job lined up for June. It is never too (old or late) to do anything. We did it and so can you.! Go for it. Good luck and God bless.

Funny things patients say !
A patient being discharged wife would not come inside to pick him up. She said she did not want her chocolate to melt in the car!

Am I being realistic? Nursing school at 45?
I finished school in May 09 at the age of 49. I am now 51 and working full time on a Med/Surg floor and love it. My husband will be 65 next month and is in his last semester of RN school. He will graduate in May and start over as an entry level RN. Are you kidding me? 45 is young. Go for it, you will never regret it. I sure do not. Plus we have so much to talk about with each other.

Is it to late for me to become a Nurse?
I graduated in 09 at age 49, my husband will finish in May 11 at age 65 :) I wish I did it at 30. I am now 50 and l really enjoy working on the Med/Surg floor. Sure it can be difficult at times, but I believe it will keep me going into my later years. Go for it, you will not regret it.

How did your employer recognize Nurse's Day?
Our facility gave us goodie bags with candy, lip flavors for our lips, a pizza cutter with a slogan about no matter how you slice it how great we are. Also, they treated us to pizza and icecream. We voted on different nurses "most likely to win on american idol because they sing all day while they work safely etc. It was real nice. This week is employee appreciation week and today they served us free lunch and dinner for all employees. Yesterday we voted for "Employee of the year" one of our fine charge nurses, tomorrow is employee gifts, every day is something. For a small rural hospital I think it's pretty good.

I'm really angry!!! And i just need to vent!!!!
I graduated in May 09 and it took 4 months to find a job. Go out in person to every nursing home in your area. That was the only job I could find. They usually hire a new grad before a hospital. While employed keep looking at the hospitals. It took me 4 months to find a hospital job while employed at the nursing home. After you apply on line show up in person at hospitals. I had many no's before I had an interview. I also had some awful interviews where I thought I would die before it was finished with mean cranky managers. Good luck to you.
