Nurses Relations

After having nurse's day come and go without our employer even acknowledging the fact that it was nurse's day, am just curious as to how other employers honor their nurses on that day? Look forward to your responses!!

I worked the weekend. We didn't get a card, or a flyer, or even an over-head announcement about Nurse's Day. It felt like a regular, work-yourself-to-death-in-long-term-care kind of day. Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect flowers or a bonus--just some kind of acknowledgement...

It was completely ignored. Not even a cheap pen-nothing.

They didn't. The nurses got a bag of stuff a week later.
However, they went all-out for Nursing Home Week.

Our facility did not even say "great Job you guys" "Thanks for working your butts off" Nothing......we were bought out by a for profit only ONLY company that is based in NYC, and we are disposable to them. Its sad, we give our all and our owners representation AKA Administration could care less. Another reason I put my resignation in!!! I dont expect gifts and prizes....but a THANK YOU for giving this facility time when you were off or not calling in EVER....lol....well I guess some employers just dont get it...and really some just dont care!

Secretaries,(now called "administrative professionals) Teachers,Librarians.
Doctors and Lawyers don't need a day, or even a week, they're treated like royalty every day.

The same as you. The hospital I work in not even acknowledged the fact that it was Nurse's Day.
A local newspaper, on the other hand, not only acknowledged it with a good article on Florence Nightingale, but wrote a decent article on nurses and nursing profession with many pics.

I want to share a few of the ways my employer/s have recognized Nurses' Day over the years.
Hospital in S. Carolina: Had 30 nurses at a time go down to a conference room where they had tables set with white tablecloths and rose centerpieces. We were given a snack of fancy little sandwitches and petit fours with something to drink. As we left the room, we were each given a pink long-stem rose. It was very nice. :redbeathe
At a hospital in Ohio: On Secretary's Day, each ward secretary was given a three carnation corsage and a free meal in the hospital cafeteria. On Nurses' Day, each nurse was given a free piece of strawberry pie in the cafeteria at lunch/supper. The strawberry pie consisted of: a crust with fresh strawberries sliced and laid in a single row on top of the crust. A tiny dab of whipped cream was on top of the "pie." Many of us didn't even bother to take our piece of free "pie."
Another hospital in Ohio: Each nurse received a steak dinner with hot roll and a choice of baked potato/fries and vegetable/salad, and choice of dessert. We then received an angel pin with a tiny nurse cap and a beautiful, personalized card. Our head nurse on our unit then gave each of us a gift bag with perfumed soap, body lotion, etc. and a couple of balloons. There were no male nurses on our unit at that particular time.
Some places you are made to feel appreciated and some places you are not.
