I've gotten cards from about 5 classes so far, flowers, candy, an announcement over the loud speaker, and I'm getting to cash in on all of the teacher week treats too since our school calls it "employee appreciation week". So far, so good.

Well you have to be appreciated for anyone to acknowledge you during Nurses Appreciation Week. And it doesn't help that its also Teacher Appreciation Week. So I will not hold my breath for anything even a "Thank You" is too much to ask around here. But I appreciate you all so "Happy Nurses Week!"

At the risk of being "Grinch-y" I have to admit mixed feelings about appreciation days/weeks for professionals. When I'm in a certain mood, they strike me as a bit...condescending.

I'm much happier to be in the staff birthday pool; we get cards and stuff then.

I'm not interested in any feigned or shallow or feeble attempts by staff to "remember" me for a designated time period every year. You guys are the best nurse week gifts I could ask for and I get to have you every week!!! Yay me!!

i just get lumped in with the teachers for the week. the PTA had breakfast for us yesterday and we get little goodies throughout the week - nothing major, but kind kitschy gestures like a pack of Extra gum and a note thanking us for going the "extra" mile for the students. They have items donated that we can all put in for as a raffle. I saw a post on the bookface yesterday - Save a life, you're a hero, save a hundred lives, you're a nurse! Happy nurse's week, fellow rockstars!
