It's SNOWING IN TEXAS!
Our district was one of the very few that didn't delay the start of school todaySo, what did our teachers do? Let the kids out to play in it for the first hour of school...there's about 700 kids sitting in their classrooms in socked feet - letting their shoes dry!!!
This is fantastic!! We just get irritated with snow up here in New England.
It hit too late here to be an issue for us on Friday. They've closed the buildings for weekend activities. We'll see if there's enough left on Monday to even get a delayed opening.
My favorite bit was a comedian in front of an audience in Madison, WI. He was talking about NYC being paralyzed by 18" of snow, or as you call it here, "a dusting."
To all you southern folk - BLACK ICE WARNING!!!! BLACK ICE WARNING!!!! BLACK ICE WARNING!!!!
Those of us who deal with snow know all about it.
BLACK ICE looks so innocuously like wet roadway blacktop or wet sidewalk. But don't be fooled!
It almost always occurs when snow melts during the day, but the temp still says low. So the melt freezes into BLACK ICE.
You guys usually don't municipally budget for road maintenance like much SNOW PLOWING and SANDING and BRINING. So it becomes a problem!
