GREAT DEAL of embarassment....thanks BON.

Published

I'd like to thank the people who supported me here tru posting. Unfortunately, I FAILED NCLEX-PN again for the 3rd time. And that cause me a great deal of embarassment from my family, friends and people who knows me. They all think that I AM STUPID and DUMB for not passing the exam for the 3rd time. Thank you BON for making this exam so hard to pass and making more HARDER next year. I am depressed, no work , no place to live. Because i give up everything and spend all my saving just for this exam and just to pass this exam and be able to have a good job and something that i can support myself. BUT now...I HAVE NOTHING. Thank you BON ...GREAT JOB FOR MAKING THE EXAM HARDER...to PASS...:crying2:

Please take some time out to relax - in the nicest way possible, you're sounding a little nuts :)

The CA BRN do *NOT* write or administer the NCLEX. They give you the license if you pass. It is a national exam, the same if you're in FL or CA or NY.

To be honest, I'd rather it was harder to pass - you have lives in your hand once you get a license!

I totally understand your frustration, but a few things to consider. Foreign-trained nurses (I am one too) as a rule, are not taught in the NCLEX style throughout their course. It's a whole new strategy to understand what is being asked and how to answer it. I was a critical care RN in another country for over 10 years and still had to learn how to take NCLEX. If you're having that much trouble with Kaplan Q Bank, stopping it and taking the test anyhow is not a good move. You need to work on it until your scores are better and show that you have a better chance of passing the NCLEX exam.

I *strongly* agree with Sue's suggestion that you go to at least one review class on how to read and answer those type of questions. I went to one, and it was very very useful.

PS: A score on a test does not = intelligence.

You also said something about medical terminology. Did you not learn med term? if not that could be a huge reason why you're not doing well. When you understand med term, you're able to break down some big crazy word into organs, systems, type of problem (inflammation, pain, etc.). I believe that I still have all my notes from med term on the computer and i could email those to you too - i have the prefix, suffix, etc with definition. if you learn these i think it'd be a major help.

The BON must love it so much to make this exam so hard to pass. They don't realized they shuttered someones dream when they put their life on it and study hard and then they can't pass it because all the nonsense format they put on it. I don't understand why they make the NCLEX-PN so hard when the people who's taking it are not REGISTERED NURSES. PRactical Nurses meaning we need practical questions...NOT HARD QUESTIONS...WHATEVER!

honey, u are not the only one, take :heartbeat ok, and relax...u will get it.

Don't give up on yourself. Quit blaming yourself for failing. All i have to say............keep trying until you achieve the three letter words after your name. . My advice goes thus..........stay away from this forum because it leads to distraction. Wish you the best! PM if you need some help on how to answer NCLEX question.

Am also foreign trained. I was very lucky that I passed with 265 questions. I did the NCLEX-RN.

Let me just say that exam was damn hard, it was luck that made me pass the first time. I was so sure I had failed. I used the Saunders book. I only saw like 10% of that material at the exam. I was very discouraged.

My friend who is US trained had warned me that the Saunders question are way too easy than Kaplan and adviced me to get the Kaplan textbook. I didn't take him seriously, and that almost cost me a PASS. I prefered Saunders coz it was very easy to understand. But if I had to do the exam the second time, I for sure would not use Saunders. The nclex questions are way too hard and it would serve as an advantage to have been exposed to hard questions instead of facing very hard questions for the first time in the exam room. The exam was so so hard that if I was to give advice to someone who hasn't done it before and is foreign trained, not only would I advice them to use Kaplan textbook, I would also advice them to take a class. This will double your chance of passing and save you time and money.

I left the exam room feeling like a failure. I've registered in this site just to respond to you and give you hope. If you are getting 40% with Kaplan....then that means you are not up to par yet. I was scoring as much as 100% with Saunders. I guess it would have been a different case if it was Kaplan. Try Kaplan and see how you go. Am very sorry that this nursing journey hasn't been easy. But don't give up.

Don't give up. You worked too hard for this. I have taken my NCLEX 4 times for my RN. I just keep my head up and keep trying. Don't worry what other people think right now. I went up in my scores every time and this last time did 265. There are people who make A's in school but have poor nursing skills and fail the NCLEX. I have to take a refresher course in my state. The BON only allows you to faill three times in one year. I have taken KAPLAN for theory and now have to do clinical hours. Then I can apply again. This really sucks!! Try to take your NCLEX again right away. Take Care........

So i think you are RIGHT. Its time to find a new career. I think Nursing its not for me...Taking this exam for hte third time and not passing its telling me something...GIVE UP! RIGHT? THanks..I dont think i want to waste another 200 dollars just i know that i am going to fail this DAMN test again...

Someone posted that they passed the NCLEX RN after the tenth try. That took determination. Perhaps you could get a job doing something, anything, and study for your next try in a certain amount of time set aside each day. When you no longer make the exam your only focus in life, maybe you will relax, and get it over with. I would not give up after only three tries. But you need to get some income and do something to relieve your mind. Good luck.

I know a nurse who took it 6 times before she finally passed. I think a formal course would be really helpful for you.

I beg to differ it is this mindset that hinders you.

Why would a loving God put his precious creations in your hand at this time? He would not!

Reason: You are presently ill-equipped.

ALL NURSES have precious gifts lent to them by God to care for thats why the exam is structered in such a manner. If you dont meet the mininum cant take care of his children.

Life were talking not simply money

Also whatever you do hold on to your dreams. I have to retake NCLEX-RN so I do understand the frustration. For now perhaps find work elsewhere let mind rest 4 minute then go back. PM if you need help i'll share what I know or have.

So God gave those nurses who pass with license because their are all well - equipped now. So your saying i am not studying the content the way they are so God didn't let me pass. So how come some nurses who have license already and still makes mistakes on their day to day work? You must be perfect if you have a license already right? I am studying the same book and same content so what's the difference on what i do and i can't pass this damn exam?

I wouldn;t have to do all of this if ONLY the NCSBN makes the exam a little easier to pass since it is testing your minimum compentency. Something I dont understand here...minimum competency means MEMORIZING THE WHOLE NURSING BOOK so you can pass..cause they made so HARD with all their NON-SENSE FORMAT and TRICKS ...why just just make the whole exam multiple choice ..whatever!...I could have kept my old job..but no i have to give my everything and put all my energy on this damn exam and nothing...I know my capability and i am not stupid..If only NCSBN know what their impact to us who fail this exam..they would know better..I

m angry and frustrated cause i lost a lot...and now i will celebrate holiday with this failure to share to all my love ones..Thanks NCSBN...
