What do you want to do in nursing, how far do you want to go? I know personally I dream at night about my life as a bedside LPN, then (years later, after much education) as a midwife, etc. What do you dream about?

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Ok, a slight change in plans. Perhaps I will get my LPN, work towards my RN and then BSN through Excelsior ("NY state" school, distance ed, great reviews, state fund eligible!). Meanwhile, I will get experience in geriatrics and critical care... then work agency! (Then go on to get my masters in midwifery, however, I met a VERY nice CRNA who sat down with me for about two hours and told me what a wonderful profession she has, and mentioned her six figure salary! :rotfl: ) So many dreams, I guess I have to follow God's plan. :p

I want to be a NICU nurse! My second choices would be peds or mother/baby.

I can already tell you that I do not want to work in the OR, Rehab, Med/Surg or geriatrics.

i am leaning towards either LD or NICU. but lately I have had a obsession with OR. I haven't even started school yet so i am sure i will add to my list.

I have just recently commited to persuing my MD. ::flutter:: I have the support of my dh, my children have no idea what I am talking about and I will wait til I take my MCAT to freak out my mom.

You go nurseunderwater! That is AWESOME!!!!

I think I'd like my CRNA.

I would like to be a labor & delivery nurse.

There are so many specialities in nursing that it is unbelievable.

Specializes in Telemetry/Med Surg.

Not sure yet...so much yet to experience but I am leaning very heavily towards Burn Unit nursing.

I want to be flying around in a chopper. I have been so passionate about trauma, life flight, and ER for the last 5 years or so. I am getting a good start right now. I am doing an externship this summer for 5 weeks on a trauma unit and 5 weeks in the Emergency Department of a huge teaching hospital. I am so excited! I also loved my pediatric rotation and am considering it after I am too old for the adreneline rush.

bsn for starters and at this point i am leaning toward icu or er. If i were to ever go back for a masters, it would probably be in education (msn) i love teaching! so i think being a nurse educator would work for me.

Specializes in Adult Med-Surg, Rehab, and Ambulatory Care.

Wow, that's great! Good luck. :)

man, I just can't make up my mind...but areas that interest me now (today LOL!) are:

peds, oncology, burn, ER, OR, L&D (obviously) Whew...I wish someone could tell me the pros and cons of each area to help me decide but I don't think I'll have a clearer view until I do my clinicals.
