What do you want to do in nursing, how far do you want to go? I know personally I dream at night about my life as a bedside LPN, then (years later, after much education) as a midwife, etc. What do you dream about?

Yep, been there but I'm gonna have to go back. Most of the talk on them is really technical and I don't understand it, but I'll try again! LOL! If I can ever get off my user control panel. Now, everyone quit posting! LOL!

My goal is to become a confident and skilled RN first in the medical services/ geriatric area and perhaps psych some day.

I'm hoping I'll figure it out sometime between now and graduation!
(honestly though - I haven't even started nursing school, so I have no standard of comparison of what I want to do and what I absolutely don't want to do! :chuckle)

I am with Manna, I hope I will figure it out sometime between now and graduation (2 semesters from now!! WOO HOO!). I know I can rule out medsurg; nothing wrong with it, just not for me. I did like day surgery and the PACU (get em up, get em out!). Will do my mother/baby & peds rotations this up coming year, will have to wait and see what I think about that. Also kind of interested in Diabetes Education nurse......need to find out more about education requirements......

Definitely NICU, PICU, L&D, or Women's Health... I think I'd eventually like to get my NP as a WHNP or NNP down the road.
Incidentally, the community college where I'm taking my prereq's requires its ADN students to take Medical Ethics to graduate with the degree. The college I'm looking to transfer to once my prereq's are done to get my 2nd-degree BSN does not require it, though it does offer it as an elective.
