Just for fun, if you were to choose a career other than nursing what would it be and why?

Nursing is a 2nd career for me. Here are my other choices that I seriously looked into:
* DJ'ing at clubs and large parties
* professional online poker player (actually did play for a while after reading/studying a number of books)
* environmental science

Follow in the footsteps of Gregory House, MD, but without the personality traits. Using medical knowledge to make differential diagnoses intrigues me.

I think I would be a great landscape artist.

Occuaptional therapist was my original choice. Without regard to pay and prerequisites and all that other stuff, my dream job is travel writer. I've always loved writing. Alas, with kids and a spouse and bills, I need more steady income.Now? Maybe pharmacist or optometrist. Good hours, respect/prestige, and great pay.

Travel writer does sound perfect! And I almost forgot, photographer! It used to be a pretty serious hobby of mine.

Can I just say that I love what you've got going on here: just your friendly DJing, poker playing, environmentally friendly neighborhood nurse.

If I had attended the college I wanted to, my major was to be Communications and the goal my 17 year old self had was to be a magazine editor or radio personality/producer. I suppose the modern version of that would be a blogger or podcaster. Neither of those sound terribly lucrative but I'd still like to be involved in communications somehow.
How did I end up as a Nursing major? It's not an interesting story but here I am. :)
