M-F, no weekends/no holidays/no call, full benefits from day 1, salary about 74K a yr, but my coworker is most likely not going to take this position because the orienation is at the "mother" hospital about 3 hrs away..he would have to be there a week and 1/2..the employer IS going to reimburse him for his mileage AND hotel...but he does not like having to travel - even for this short period of time nor having to pay the travel expenses up front. These are the ONLY reasons he is not going to take this position...I understand being anxious about being away from home, family but he will come home over the weekend and this is most likely the only time he will have to go out of his area. Am I missing something or can it be people really hate traveling this much as to pass up this opportunity - especially in these economic times.............

Specializes in Emergency & Trauma/Adult ICU.

There could certainly be other reasons he is not publicly sharing.

Specializes in Peri-op/Sub-Acute ANP.

He just doesn't want the job and the training issues are his "out".

Specializes in Reproductive & Public Health.

Yeah, I would bet money that he has other issues that he just doesn't want to disclose. Can you apply for the job? :lol2:

Maybe it's just a boring job. Sometimes we need a little adrenaline here and there to change things up ever so often. The worst thing for me anyways, is being bored with my job.

Sounds like he may have a phobia about traveling..

can I apply for the job:)

Specializes in Home Care.

Maybe he doesn't want the extra responsibility and stress that comes with the new position. Some jobs just aren't worth the $$.

Surely he isn't that short-sighted. There must be other reasons he isn't disclosing.

Specializes in pediatrics, geriatric, developmentally d.

wow... ya imma have to agree with the above posts, there's another underline issue going on with him.

Maybe he doesn't have the ability to front the cost of travel/hotel.

Specializes in Med Surg - Renal.

Sounds like it is your "diamond job" but not his.

My comment, his reasons are his reasons, it is not anyone's business but his. You want the job apply... not your concern if they don't want it.
