I told my family that I want to be a nurse and my brother laughed and dissed at me.

He laughed at you. So what? Brotherly love. Move on.

Maybe he laughed at you because you posted a thread asking if any men pursue nursing to look for a future wife.

It sounds like you both have some maturing to do.
That question was just a joke.

LMAO
Yeah, as a guy, some of my friends make fun of me and joke around (nothing too bad since we are good friends) but then I think of the pathways made in life and know that I settled for a good career with stability and decent pay. I am more mature than to be down and sad on what people have to say about me. I have a friend who said only women should be in nursing and I laughed but I did not say anything to defend myself because he works as a delivery driver at Hungry Howie's for the past few years and has no education (we are the same age) and I know I could have dissed him back but I decided to spare him :) .

To be honest, nope. Of course, getting a nursing license in my mid-50's had something to do with it, I'm sure... :-)
If anything, I was surprised at the supportiveness of people in general - got fist bumps and high-fives from total strangers when I got my license. Having patients calling you 'Doc' doesn't hurt, either...

This male nurse section is full of pointless questions like this. What answer are you looking for? Either yes everyone has siblings make fun of them or no we don't. Figure out what you want to do and do it. Im confused about what the problem is.

Nope. All of my friends are supportive and even my coworkers are sad that I will be leaving to further my education.
I have many male colleagues who are nurses. My family is very supportive. In today's day and age, it's very common for men to pursue nursing.
You'll be okay. While your brother is laughing at you now, you will be laughing on your way to the bank when you're banking 60-100K/year.

I'm a male nurse and I'm in nurse anesthesia school. How about that?!

Grow a thicker skin and don't care what anyone thinks about your decision.
