For Fun--Kudos 2 Me...The "toot your own horn" thread

Nursing Students General Students

Hi, anyone want to brag a bit? After all, I think we deserve it.

I thought it would be fun to share some of our victories and things we think we should be patted on the back for.

Here's mine....I passed my first skills test this week and got a 100 on our first quiz in Fundamentals which I am soooo proud of because, as everyone knows, nursing tests are different than any other tests, you have to learn to think differently. You have to learn to think like a nurse, and WOOHOO, I DID IT!

Thanks for the positive, upbeat post! It is refreshing to read positive posts on here for once!

Today in class some student was going on about her stellar GPA, her "job" she has planned out, her four adorable kids, her patients that love her, the nurses that she's corrected, and I told her to zip it.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Academics.

Tyler, you're such a joy to have around.

I survived being snapped at by three different people yesterday! Go me! Healthcare is...weird.

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

Oh are you back in class again? I remember you saying you left nursing school and never looked back in a post a few months ago. Did you decide to give it another shot?

My kudos, I have had a very rough 4th semester at home, 2 deaths, husband had to leave out of state to work, my youngest child had to leave out of state for me to finish my clinicals as I have no help here and am almost done. Yet, I have done better on tests this semester than previous semesters, I got a great review from a tough CI who said she would be honored to have me as her nurse in the future or work side by side with me, also said she wished she could bottle up my enthusiasm, passion and positivity and pass it out and said I am very coachable because I take constructive criticism and learn from it instead of getting upset and mad, I also got nominated for a school award from my adviser. (won't know if I won until 2 weeks)

It's not often I give myself credit where I deserve, but when hearing these things from an outsider, it feels good to hear and I do have to stop every now and than and be proud of myself and how far I have come before I go back into the survival mode that is my life.

Specializes in ortho, med/surg.

I found out today I am graduating summa cum laude in may. I have worked my tail off and that just made my week!

Specializes in Oncology/hematology.

I answered a teacher's question, and was able to answer her follow up... it felt like I swallowed a Med-Surg textbook... all my classmates looked at me 'oh, my god... how did she know that?!' ohhh i love it when people are set straight when they under stimate me...YAY ME!

I am set to graduate from nursing school in 32 days (but who's counting?!) with a 4.0 GPA! When I started I wasn't even sure I could pass and I had the self-confidence of a gnat, but I did it! :D

My last lecture EVAR (well okay maybe for the near future since I may do grad school lol) is tomorrow morning. Praise Jesus, Allah, and whatever other deity will listen. :yeah:

Haha! LOVE this! I'm telling everyone that will listen too! ;)

Specializes in Emergency; med-surg; mat-child.

I kicked butt on the cardiac test and got to attend a birth on my first OB clinical shift. Pretty good week!

Specializes in GI.

With the exception of one class(I got a B) I've gotten straight A's In nursing school and I got a 99% on the NLN Diagnostic Readiness Test

Drew up NPH and Regular Insulin correctly at Clinicals and administered my first sub q shot on a real patient! Yeah baby!, my hands were shaking but after doing so many on the inject a pad, it was nice to do it on a real person. Passed my head to toe assessment for clinicals.
