Completed my MSN in eleven months, five days. At age 57!

Yeah, I did that.

Besides my husband there are not many people who I can "toot my horn" to so this is a treat :) Of course my most rewarding accomplishments so far has been my four wonderful/smart/caring children :) My school accomplishments have been returning to school at age 37 and maintaining a 4.0 every semester for the last two years! I've had several instructors ask me for my permission to use my essays in future classes as teaching tools. I was the only student in speech class that was asked to video tape my presentation so it could be used in future classes. I know that getting straight A's won't matter much after graduation, and that there is a huge probablitly that I won't be able to keep all A's throughout the nursing program...but for now I'm very proud of myself :) Thanks for starting this thread, like I said, I don't have anyone besides my husband to share my accomplishments with...both my parents have passed, my only sibling rarely speaks to me, and my in-laws are more interested in their granddaughter who is in medical school; so my accomplishments get over-shadowed by hers. Thanks again, I needed this!!

I am just beginning my nursing school journey, but I'm going to pat myself on the back all the same. 5 years ago, I didn't think I'd ever do anything besides work in a factory or as an underpaid waitress. After all, as a single mom of 3 kids, it's not so easy getting a restart in life. I went back to school a year and a half ago with the intention of just getting my LPN, but halfway through my first semester at the community college, my A & P 1 instructor told me that I should work on my prereqs for the BSN program at the university an hour away. She said I was smart enough to go big (no one had ever really encouraged me like that before), so I took her advice and took Chemistry and College Algebra along with all the rest of the required classes...and graduated with a 4.0 in 17 straight classes for my transfer degree and the Microbiology Departmental award. I applied to the university with high hopes and a stomach full of nerves, jumped through all the hoops....And they accepted me!!!!!! Who would've thought? I wouldn't have. I will be sending my old professor a big thank you card and bouquet of flowers upon my completion of my BSN from ASU. I'm just stoked I made it in. Hard work does pay off. I know the next few years will be a huge challenge, but I can do it!

The attending psychiatrist (I work psych) and my manager both told me that I was to be the "go to" person for a patient to keep the patients behavior under control. Basically the patient was supposed to come and find me if feeling under stress to help prevent an out burst.

I sent a patient out to the ER. The guy got admitted to the ICU. I got a "Good call!" from my boss. I think my patient will be ok, he was smiling rolling out the door.

I made an 88% on my second Fundamentals test!!! Can you smell the victory...;)

Now people are asking me how to study-yay!

I'm a month into my 1st semester of my ADN program. I got a 95% on my first fundamentals exam (darn near the highest score with a class average of 79%!) ) and I got a 100% on my dosage calculations test (not THAT special, 90% was passing, but still!) I feel great and I only want to strive for better! Woohoo!

Great job! I made the mistake of telling people my grades and now everyone wants me to tutor them. I don't have time for any of that! I have no life that's why I do well! :) now I'm just gonna tell people "I studied my butt off and the grade I received reflects that"

I know...a few people have asked me and I told them....their response-I'll make flashcards...flashcards don't help me. Actually I'm going to stop telling people my grade-we don't have a very good mix of people and half of our class is hoping the other half flunks out. So I feel happy

Received my acceptance into nursing school! I love this post. Congrats to everyone!!!
