For Fun--Kudos 2 Me...The "toot your own horn" thread

Nursing Students General Students

Hi, anyone want to brag a bit? After all, I think we deserve it.

I thought it would be fun to share some of our victories and things we think we should be patted on the back for.

Here's mine....I passed my first skills test this week and got a 100 on our first quiz in Fundamentals which I am soooo proud of because, as everyone knows, nursing tests are different than any other tests, you have to learn to think differently. You have to learn to think like a nurse, and WOOHOO, I DID IT!

I have three A's in my nursing classes and hoping for another A in my human nutrition class this afternoon. I passed pathophysiology with a perfect score, didn't miss a single point in that class.

Scored a 99.99% on my Maternity HESI today! HESI score of 1124! Woot! Studied like a maniac - practice questions and rationales were key to my success.

Specializes in Telemetry/IMC.

Wow, that is great. I didn't have to take the maternity HESI, but I didn't do wonderfully on the one for the ERI, so I can only imagine how difficult that was. Congrats! :yeah:

Specializes in MICU - CCRN, IR, Vascular Surgery.

I got a 4.0 this semester and 3rd semester is supposed to be the most difficult! My clinical teacher said I was outstanding :D Now my GPA is back up to 3.895, hoping to end up with 3.9+!

I got a 100 on my last patho/pharm test & have since complete my first semester of nursing school. :)

I finally got my grades for this semester. I took 10 hours (3 classes) and made an A in Vulnerable Populations (basically geriatric nursing), a B in Med-Surg, and an A in Pathophysiology! I thought for sure I was going to make 2 Bs and 1 A. When I saw that A in Patho I screamed like Jimmy Stewart returning to Bedford Falls after his little lesson with Clarence the angel. Ahhh, it was ah-maz-ing!!!!:hpygrp:

Happy Holidays everyone!!! My favorite movie just came on (even though I have the DVD). Helloooo Bedford Falls!!! :candy:

This thread has been buried for awhile and I think it's due for a BUMP!!!!

Specializes in Mental Health.

In my school, after we finish fundementals and med/surg...we have "mini's". These are 6-week classes (12 weeks of material crammed into 6 weeks. Today I officially finished my first "mini" which was oncology. I passed the class literally by the skin of my teeth. Not because I didn't study hard (although i am sure I could have done better) but because the professor had a quite unorthodox way of teaching; the "you-are-on-your-own approach". When I handed in my final; I was pretty sure i got nothing over 35 out of 100. Needless to say I passed.....AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER!!! :redbeathe

Specializes in Dialysis.

I am a first semester student. The nurse I was shadowing said that my critical thinking skills are right on and that I have good instincts! :nurse: :)

Today, while looking in my patients chart I noticed that one of her medications was supposed to be discontinued 2 days ago. It never was though...so I caught a med error and pointed it out to the nurse who was very thankful for that :yeah:

After all my hard work, after all the weekends I spent studying, after all the time I gave up to work on homework, I only have one prerequisite class left and I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO A NURSING PROGRAM WHICH BEGINS IN AUGUST OF 2011! I am officially a nursing student, and all my hard work has finally paid off.

I did the same, I noticed a patient's IV wasn't running at the right rate as it said in the EMAR. Feels really good

I am almost done with this prep work that has taken me 20+ hours to complete. Instead of prepping for each patient this semester we do ALL prep work for the whole course's clinicals prior to going, so that is why it's taking so long.
