I did everything you can think of I spent over $3000 trying to take this exam with no job and a 7 month old what else can I do I hate this feeling I hate to doubt God but he let devil take power over him what else can i do!!! I am giving up maybe nursing is not for me maybe I just love people and not nursing as a career because this is too much for me to handle
Read the post again. Never said more than half. Listen all am saying is its not nice to kick people when they are down especially when that person is trying so hard. We should treat people the way we would want others to treat us...ALWAYS remember that. You just never know maybe that nurse who tried so hard and pass the 6th time could be the very one that may just save your kids life. You just never know. Be kind say something nice. Encourage someone.
Do some of you realize that most Physicians took the boards many times before they could practice?
Not to be nitpicky, but wouldn't "most physicians" statistically mean more than half? And I doubt most physicians require multiple attempts and certainly hope their governing boards would keep track of those physicians and require remediation if necessary.
To the Nclex 5th time fail, don't listen to anyone here who says to throw in the towel and to give up. Don't give up, pray, study, refresh, repeat...do your best in studying and build your confidence with the knowledge content. Don't let any negativity slow you down or deter you from your dream. Nclex test taker does not determine what type of nurse you are once you get on the other side as a RN. Keep on and finish strong!!
She obviously isn't studying correctly or going over her CPR. She has no one to blame but herself. There honestly should be an overall rule that says after 3 times there needs to be a refresher course. She needs to do something different. Maybe she will be a good nurse, but if she can't take the stress of the NCLEX then she can't hack it as a nurse.

Treat others the way we would want others to treat us? I'd want others to be honest with me rather than blowing sunshine up my skirt. Honestly, someone that has to take the NCLEX 3+ times before passing is probably not the nurse who will save your kid's life . . . although they may have great customer service skills.
I don't think that's what he/she meant. There is also nothing wrong with having a review or prep class before exams. It doesn't make a person any less for taking it.
I agree. I took Hurst, used Kaplan and ATI for questions and did another NCLEX review course. I passed the first time with 75 questions. Employers aren't going to care whether one passes the first time or the tenth time, with or without review courses.
I don't think employers are even aware if you took the NCLEX multiple times, are they? Although they may ask why the long gap between graduation and the test. I suppose you could explain that away with pregnancies, child care duties, sick mother, etc . . . . Anyway, I think the most important element of being a nurse is passion. So if the OP really wants to be a nurse, she will keep going and will be an excellent one. So many of my colleagues are burned out an don't really give a damn, and I'll take anyone with passion over that type of a nurse.
I remember in my nursing program a student asked the dean of nursing if you are an A/B student should you do a review. Her response was no but if you are a B/C student you should. I stood up and replied I disagree!!!! I can't stand elitist! I was a B/C student and passed my boards with one attempt. My point is some have test taking anxiety or tend to read more into the question etc. The number of attempts to pass NCLEX does not determine your ability as a nurse. You don't give up you fight for that license. When you get it you are going to soar!!!! Don't let negativity rule your thoughts...!!!!
Just graduated as a B student and failed on my first try. There were A students in my class super smart. Got along with them fine because am not a competitive person but honestly were not very caring at the bedside..the entire course was one topic MONEY, and that to me is sickening. I will take someone who was persistent and got it right many tests after, who has the patients interest over someone who got it on the first shot who really does not care. My opinion.
Flame suit is on so I'm ready to be flamed. I think after not passing 5 times you need to re-evaluate. There really should be a cap on attempts at the NCLEX. The test is supposed to indicate the minimum standard for being a nurse. Even baseball has 3 strikes and you're out.
Your comment as well as others are rude. This person is breaking down and looking for encouragement to keep going. You people are telling her to give up hope. Who are you???? Just because a person doesn't pass a test does not make you are dumb or incompetent. It can simply mean you're not great at test taking! Personal experience I've seen the top students fail nclex while the students that didn't do so hot in school passed first try. Smh
