Failed 5th time is there God I can't study anymore!!!!!!!!

I did everything you can think of I spent over $3000 trying to take this exam with no job and a 7 month old what else can I do I hate this feeling I hate to doubt God but he let devil take power over him what else can i do!!! I am giving up maybe nursing is not for me maybe I just love people and not nursing as a career because this is too much for me to handle

A lot of people commenting are just ignorant and out right rude!!! Being compassionate is a part of nursing and some of you just dont have it. You are the ones that shouldnt have received a license simply because you passed some test!! What i think they need to do is provide other test to see what type of person you are before they grant you your license. I promise half of you wouldn't be a nurse today!

I don't see us as rude at all. I think (as do others apparently) that this person is lacking something very basic as far as nursing education goes and that she needs to return to school for a remedial class to learn whatever it is before proceeding. She says she spent $3k on study prep and failed 5 times. To me that says more education is needed. It doesn't necessarily mean she needs to give up, but she does need more than just another retake!

I've noticed that most people who are advocating for limited attempts and required remediation are those who have passed boards and have experience as practicing nurses. We are trying to protect our chosen profession and our patients. On the flip side, most posters here who are calling us "mean" and "rude" have not passed yet, and in some cases graduated seven years ago.

Look, there are, unfortunately, several nursing programs that do not provide a good education and allow people to graduate without the knowledge to pass NCLEX or function as a nurse. I well and truly wish the BONs would close these programs instead of giving them so many chances to change when it seems obvious improvements are not forthcoming.

It is not mean or rude to encourage someone reflect and self evaluate after multiple failed attempts. Clearly, something isn't working for them, and choruses of "Don't give up!" are not helpful.

THIS!!!!

In my state we have several nursing programs that have under 70% pass rate and one is consistently around 50%. I agree that these programs should not exist. If the state(s) cannot close them, then there should be some way of warning students away before they pay for an education that will turn out to be useless!

And YOU'RE calling people rude?? Seriously? SMH ...

Again, there should be a cap on taking NCLEX before requiring remediation! The nursing profession needs standards!!

You don't see us at work, you can't judge us. Everyone is different & has different opinions. I believe an employer will look at the gap between school, licensing & ask. What will (s)he say? Everyone has anxiety, I've been diagnosed with anxiety & depression. But even before I was put on meds I passed the NCLEX on my second try.

I passed on my second try because I was already out of nursing school & into pre reqs for the bridge program & didn't realize the ATT had a time limit so I just took my NCLEX. Had I studied, I would've passed. Because when I got down to it & actually studied, I passed!

If I was an employer, asked about the gap & someone told me that, I would be very hesitant to hire someone like the OP.

Remember that the NCLEX is not a content test, it is a critical thinking test. You need to still have both locked down when you take this test. Remediate and maybe you'll pass but honestly, I don't need to prove my competence but YOU do, so stop making excuses and make it happen.

I agree with a remediation too but if you were one being rude then it's just that...you're rude!

Well, yes I am serious, and I fail to see how it was rude.

Can you stop calling people rude just because they disagree with you?

I'm not saying EVERYONE who commented was being rude. MOST of the comments are indeed rude. It doesn't even mean she needs more education. Maybe she's just not good at taking test. A lot of you need help!!!

No you're rude!

lol. Then we will agree to disagree. But we all have different opinions. OP is obviously missing something, she either needs a review course or to switch to something else. If/when OP passes the NCLEX it will be difficult for him/her to get a job since there will be a big gap. Since there is such a surplus of nurses it won't be in the OP side. She needs to be an adult & take responsibility for failing the NCLEX, it's not God/Devil's fault.

And I think you're rude because you think I'm rude.
