I am giving up maybe nursing is not for me maybe I just love people and not nursing as a career because this is too much for me to handle

This.

lol. Then we will agree to disagree. But we all have different opinions. OP is obviously missing something, she either needs a review course or to switch to something else. If/when OP passes the NCLEX it will be difficult for him/her to get a job since there will be a big gap. Since there is such a surplus of nurses it won't be in the OP side. She needs to be an adult & take responsibility for failing the NCLEX, it's not God/Devil's fault.

And I think you're rude because you think I'm rude.

And I agree with u but the comments telling this girl that obviously she shouldn't be a nurse is rude. She's looking for help/advice and people are being mean to her. Tell her she should take a review course but don't tell her to give up and that she shouldn't be a nurse. If u weren't one to tell her that then my comment was not towards you

Not everyone is meant to be a nurse. We don't know her personally, just what she put in the post. Maybe she loves the idea but she honestly couldn't hack it. Maybe she barely passed in nursing school & now failing the NCLEX 5 times is the outcome.

I would love to be a professional singer but I can't hold a note to save my life!

Just because she made it through nursing school doesn't mean she can hack it, that's why there is the NCLEX. The NCLEX is there to separate the boys from the men.

But just because you don't agree with someone's opinion doesn't mean you should call someone rude.

Please be an adult here. If you don't like their opinion at least state a reason why, don't act like an elementary student. Say, you are rude because, xyz.

Please don't yell. They gave their opinion and you gave yours. You can't be angry because we are not telling her what YOU believe she needs to be told. I am sure you don't care but the behavior you are displaying is not very becoming of a nurse. Passing the NCLEX is what makes you a nurse and if you can't manage to critically think like a nurse you will NOT pass. The everybody gets a medal mentality has no place in healthcare. Being a nice person does not mean you get to pass. There are people in the hospital whose job is to make sure that people are happy. Nurses are there to keep them alive.

Also, have you not passed the NCLEX yet? Are you even a nurse? Why are you taking this so personally?

A lot of people commenting are just ignorant and out right rude!!! Being compassionate is a part of nursing and some of you just dont have it. You are the ones that shouldnt have received a license simply because you passed some test!! What i think they need to do is provide other test to see what type of person you are before they grant you your license. I promise half of you wouldn't be a nurse today!

Jeez...really? It's not "some test." It's the bare minimum for licensure and beginning safe practice.

513nurse's profile says they are a pre-nursing student, which, if true, means they are using the protected title of "nurse" illegally and in violation of TOS.

Kick rocks and READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I stated why they were being rude (the ones who were rude) where you been at? Like u said in your reply maybe she this and maybe she that and you're right MAYBE but none of us no what her issue is. WHAT I'M SAYING IS THEY SHOULD BE ENCOURAGING HER! NOT TELLING HER SHE SHOULDNT BE A NURSE WE DONT KNOW WHAT HER APPROACH WAS OR WHAT DISTRACTORS SHE HAD GOING ON IN HER LIFE! THE ONES TELL ING HER THAT ARE THE ONES NOT ACTING LIKE ADULTS! Get lost

Kick rocks? Really? How old are you? Are you a nurse? I haven't heard that since I was in high school.

Calm it down with the caps lock. No need to yell to get your point across, that only makes you look extremely immature. But, then again, you came across extremely immature when you quoted people several times & said "you are rude".

By the way, I did look back & read. All you said was "rude". You didn't explain why. You just called people rude. I'm starting to get a feeling you aren't over the age of 18.

Now let's bring it back to the OP.

If she spent over $3,000 on NCLEX fees AND has a little one MAYBE she would be better off doing something else. All of us who have kids still in diapers know how expensive this is!

I can't breast feed so I know how expensive it is for formula, diapers, wipes & everything. Maybe she would be best putting that money towards her baby instead of NCLEX fees & whatnot.

I'm going to unfollow this post. ....

This is the only thing you've said with which I agree. The rest.....eh.

513, you have very much to learn about what nursing is as a profession, the standards that are kept for both education and requirements for entry-to-practice. You seem to be under the belief that the most important qualities of a nurse are unconditional compassion (or what you deem to be compassion), unconditional enthusiastic support; essentially, cheerleading.

You are missing the importance of the cheerleader ALSO having a strong understanding of nursing practices and the ability to apply knowledge learned in school to real-life scenarios. It's not "some test"; it's a minimum-competency exam we're discussing here. NOT a proficiency exam, just a basic exam that determines if the tester is competent and safe to begin work as a nurse.

The test does not separate those who really REALLY want to pass from those who merely want to pass. It does not take into account someone who really REALLY wants to be a nurse for all the reasons you deem important from those who want to be a nurse for reasons you deem unimportant. Frankly, there cannot be such an exam, but I feel it's probably futile to discuss with you the reasons why such an exam would be impractical and honestly....probably useless.

You keep screaming at people that they are rude because they are giving their honest assessments of the situation: a person who is ill-prepared to pass the NCLEX is not someone we should be waving pom-poms at, it's a person who should be finding out WHY she/he cannot pass the test, plain and simple.

If you get into nursing school, you may find yourself in a class with an instructor who is trying to explain to you that there is such a thing as "false hope": telling someone everything will be alright when it probably is NOT going to be alright isn't compassionate, it's cruel. Your very viewpoint, in fact, that no one should ever be told the truth of their limitations is not encouraging, it is not helpful, and it is not compassionate (Nursing 101 stuff). What you are spouting is actually hurtful to the person who cannot pass the exam; by telling her she can do it NO MATTER WHAT and she CAN'T pass it....what does THAT do to her? The person telling her the truth is being helpful, the person who relentlessly cheers "you can do it!!!!!!!!" is not.

FWIW, the flow of your writing suggests that you might have some difficulties yourself when it comes to writing papers for school assignments. Your use of 'textspeak' (u instead of you), incorrect diction, along with nearly hysterical use of "!!!!!!!!!" indicate you might have difficulty all throughout nursing school---should you get that far. Using juvenile expressions and taunts only makes you look immature and, frankly, foolish. You cannot win an argument simply by tossing out rude comments (don't know what you thought you could POSSIBLY gain by suggesting that someone "kick rocks"??).

If you manage to get into nursing school, you will find that you will be required to listen respectfully, ask questions and debate topics respectfully, and without anger issues on display. Give that some consideration as you continue your education.

I don't think employers are even aware if you took the NCLEX multiple times, are they? Although they may ask why the long gap between graduation and the test. I suppose you could explain that away with pregnancies, child care duties, sick mother, etc . . . . Anyway, I think the most important element of being a nurse is passion. So if the OP really wants to be a nurse, she will keep going and will be an excellent one. So many of my colleagues are burned out an don't really give a damn, and I'll take anyone with passion over that type of a nurse.

The most important element of being a nurse is competence. You can have all the passion in the world, but what good is that if you're incompetent and kill or injure someone in your care? If the OP really wants to be a nurse, she needs to be competent, not passionate. And I think failing the NCLEX five times is not a positive indicator for competence, even if it is for passion.
