Extra pay for charge?

Published

Hi,

Do you get paid extra for charge? How much? if you don't mind sharing. I don't and never thought much of it until I recently read that some people get paid extra for the extra responsibilities.

We get an extra $1 at my hospital. So, do the math...that equals $8 for the 8 hour shift. I would pay them $10 a shift to not make me charge. For all the headaches and added responsibility, I think it should be more than 1 dollar.

5% of base pay

90 cent! Not worth it!

$1 per hour- not worth the additional stress! ;)

50 cents at my hospital. You get 4 patients when the usual ratio is 5:1.

I only have 1 year under my belt, so there are plenty of more senior nurses who can charge ahead of me. My thought is, PLEASE OH PLEASE, don't EVER make me charge! Not worth it!

Specializes in Gyn Onc, OB, L&D, HH/Hospice/Palliative.

No xtra $ for charge, and the charge nurse takes the same full assignment. 20 + yrs ago at the same facility, we got .30/ hr additional --one more reason why I went casual--NO MORE CHARGE!!! :yeah:

My hospital pays $3.00 per day for charge. Interesting, because while I would never be in charge of a unit, I am a team leader of a corridor, but get nothing extra for that. And, I think they pay the same for those who are in the preceptorship program. Now, same thing, I precept or train when an RN is busy, but don't get paid for that, either.

10% of base pay. And still not worth it.

Specializes in NICU.

We get $2 extra an hour, should be more, but it sounds like that's good!

Specializes in Operating Room.

$1.25 an hour. It's ridiculous.:angryfire

Specializes in cardiothoracic surgery.

$2.00 an hour. We also get $2.00 an hour for precepting.

Specializes in Home Health, SNF.

$2.00 more per hour as Unit Manager. However, the experience is invaluable. If they asked you to take the job, they must feel you can do it. good luck, if you want to talk , just e-mail me.
