  1. I haven't heard of Exidine. I don't think my hospital has it. I will ask though. Is it safe in the mouth? Currently we use baby shampoo for lady partsl preps when patients have an allergy to iodine. I haven't found anything other than 1:1 sterile water/betadine for intra-oral procedures. Not sure about baby shampoo in the mouth. I realize that the mouth will not ever be clean. Just curious if the was anything else available. No chloraprep in the mouth.
  2. Do you prep the face and other areas with with mucous membranes with iodine if the patient is allergic to IV dye and shellfish? If not, what is an alternative to Chloraprep? Thanks
  3. I will go back to work on Tuesday, and they will expect an answer. The I.T. manager said he will tell my current manager about his interest in me on Monday. After that, the I.T. manager said he can make me a formal offer for a position. I just hope he will come through. I am flattered that they would think enough of me to offer me a promotion. I don't want to miss out on an opportunity in the OR, but the nurse analyst position I think would be great for more opportunity and growth.
  4. Well, I interviewed for the EPIC analyst position on Monday. I think that it went well. As I mentioned before, I am an OR nurse with over 5 years of experience. I applied to become the head nurse of Oral surgery back in December. This is before the EPIC opportunity presented itself. The OR took their time to fill the position. In the meantime, I decided to pursue the position in the I.T. department. Well as fate would have it, I got offered the head nurse position in the OR; right after I interviewed for Epic. I e-mailed the I.T. manager and told him about my situation, and that I would rather work with him rather than the OR, but I have yet to hear from him. He said he would talk to my manager, and make me an offer to work in his department. Should I wait for him and turn down the manager position in the OR? I'm thinking the opportunity for growth would be greater in I.T. than the operating room. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  5. I am operating room nurse with over 5 years of experience. We use Epic charting system. There is an open position for an Epic Application Analyst at my hospital. I was approached by the Epic Op-Time team leader about becoming an Application Analyst. She told me that I did not need to have a lot of computer experience. She also told me that they needed someone with nursing experience, and that they would train me in the computer aspect of Epic. Does anyone have information they would like to share about what exactly I might expect in this particular position? Thanks for your input.
  6. My gyn specialty manager said she read to use baby shampoo as an alternative for a lady partsl prep.
  7. We get an extra $1 at my hospital. So, do the math...that equals $8 for the 8 hour shift. I would pay them $10 a shift to not make me charge. For all the headaches and added responsibility, I think it should be more than 1 dollar.
  8. We do a lot of I & D's at my hospital during the off shifts. Butt puss is a really popular procedure. I think a lot of the I & D's can wait until the morning, but it is a learning facility so they get done overnight.
  9. In my opinion, "You don't get your sex where you get your checks."
