I went to a co-workers party, she had a hall, DJ, Karaoke, etc, and lots of booze. I found out that another co-worker turns in to a trailer trash crazy woman when exposed to too much alcohol. It was a bad scene and there is continuing drama occurring.

I normally don't attend parties. I was the soberest person there, I think, although I did loosen up enough to show off my lousy dancing.

So, a word to the wise: Don't go to drinking parties with co-workers!!!

Oh but it's so fun to go and watch people make fools out of themselves hahaha. What's that saying " don't ****, where you eat!"

It seems like you went to a party, drank responsibly, wiggled a little on the dance floor, and didn't cause drama... that sounds like social success to me. I'd avoid the specific people who caused problems, rather than socializing less, personally... but that's just me. Some of my closest friends started out as coworkers. :)

Sounds like the annual Christmas party every single year where I used to work.

Never did attend, but the stories I heard after were quite amusing!

(Of course, this was the same hospital where the head nurse of our unit took all the new hires out and bought us shots at the completion of orientation!)

I know a woman who is smart, on the ball, doesn't party too much. But apparently she DID on one occasion at her husband's work party.Another woman I know was there, and that was her first impression of my friend. I told her that sure didn't sound like my friend, but that first impression was impossible to correct.

I think it's a good idea to not drink much if any at work parties.

That made me laugh!

I would actually love to socialize more with my coworkers... none of my people throw any wild parties. Just about everybody is married with small children, or married with grown children, and they just don't do anything fun like this. It's hard to make friends with people with kids who just want to be home with their kids and do kid-related things all the time.

I have successfully lured one coworker to go out to breakfast with me after work once and another four times, and that's the limit to my success with outside of work socializing. I even had a ticket free up to an event locally and couldn't find any takers... and I was offering to just give the ticket away without any compensation!

I need to work somewhere that coworkers throw parties and invite other coworkers.

Kind of like calling everyone who lives in the not-so-swanky part of town ghetto...kind of judgemental, No? And yes I did live in a trailer park at one point. I moved out when I was able to afford a house. I was by no means, ever at any point in my life, "trailer trash", but thanks for playing.

Lived in a trailer in a crappy park for quite a few years and at that time in my life fit the bill to a T.

I don't get drunk around coworkers, neither mine not my husband's. We're rather private people and to me, being drunk is incredibly vulnerable and intimate. My coworkers, on the other hand, have no compunctions and interesting situations pop up from time to time after a night of alcohol- fueled interactions. I find it amusing.

I generally agree though - don't defecate where one eats.

I will go to any party I want, get as drunk as I want.

I would expect my colleagues to realize we are NOT at work and their judgement is not required.

Emergent, I'll go to your next party!

Hey I have partied with coworkers in the past. Even if you get a bit silly it's all in good fun.

We have occasional happy hours where I work (just our small specialty team)- after we finish for the day, we go to one of the bars, have some drinks, and have some dinner. Nothing wrong with that. We do have some pretty wild and crazy whole-OR Christmas parties... they are no spouse allowed, so use your imagination as to what just might go on. Those I've never personally attended.
