Doctor's Fiancee yelled at me

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I was at the nurses station when I answered a phone call from a Doctor's Fiancee. She asked if she can speak to Dr. So and So...I told her to wait a few minutes. Well...a few minutes turned into several minutes since he was busy with patients.

His fiancee then proceeded to yell at me profusely saying I'm not doing my job. I've seen her at the hospital before walking around like she's all that.

The kicker is...she's my age 23...and her fiancee is a 35 year old surgeon.

She's a Teacher...if she treats her students as badly as she treats anyone else...I truely feel bad for those kids.

Also, what am I? Your fiancee's secretary? I'm a nurse.

Don't feed it.

yes i agree...

You're seriously out of touch with reality. I had to read your post a few times just to make sure I've read it right. You are very immature and need to have a wake up call. Attracting only doctors should not be your only reason for choosing nursing as a profession. You're 23? It sounds like you're 13!

I did try to tell the Doctor nicely...but he absolutely snapped at me.

I pursued Nursing to marry a Doctor...but I feel as if I chose the wrong profession since so many are in relationships, engaged, or married to Teachers.

What is so special about Teachers...that Doctor's prefer them over us...when we're right in front of them.

hey qt...if you "pursued nursing to marry a doctor", boy, are you are in for a rude awakening!!

Honestly...if you had a chance of marrying a Doctor...or say a male Teacher...or female teacher...or anyone that isn't a doctor...which one would you chose?

I would go for the doctor. Teachers don't have much to offer...

I'm 23...and i became a nurse to be a NURSE not to find me a husband....that is NOT the reason to become a nurse...Just let her go....

You're in for a hard road if you're in it just for a doctor..*shakes head* Profession has nothing to do with love...there's nothing more special about teachers just because docs are married to them..you gotta lot to learn darlin'. Teachers have nothing to offer????!?! WHOA...yeah..you really got a lot to learn...

I would marry the person I fell in love with.

My best friend is married to a garbage man. He's the nicest, kindest person I have ever met.

Hope you find your doctor.

I think that you will learn as you go through life that what someone has to offer has little to do with their earning potential.

Hmm I dont know...I think chemistry is important between two individuals... plus teachers are great, they are awsome and often have more potential than doctors and are smarter too...if you can be a teacher you can become anyone..seriously (I have a teacher in my family)also if I'm not attracted to a doctor what good this will do for me...I mean money is great at the very beggining, you can buy things,go skiing, stuff like that but eventually you get tired of the green paper,if you are looking for a prince on the white horse let your heart choose him for you...good luck in finding true love!

I'd choose to marry the man I did. He's a blue-collared worker that gets his hands dirty every day and works his butt off. You know what he has to offer me?? A warm hug on the worst of days, a secret wink that means he thinks I'm sexy even in bed head and morning breath, two beautiful children that adore their doting father, a loving and trusting relationship, and the knowledge that he married me even though I'm just a nurse.

Wow, Shallow much?

I am an RN-BSN. I graduated with honors and plan to go on for my masters and become a midwife...my husband never graduated high school...maybe I should leave him and move on to a doctor...(sarcasm here)

What I did not tell you is that my husband is a Contractor, owns his own business and makes twice as much as I do...but I married him when he was making $10/hr working for some one else, and I do not love him anymore today because he makes much more than he did 9 years ago...I love him because of who he is, not because of what he does or how much he makes.

QT, I only registered today after reading you bash Teachers. I'M currently a Teacher. I teach 8th graders and I love every moment of it. I have no idea what your problem with teachers is...but you need to change your perception.

I work my butt off every day to give my students the best education I can give them.

I was looking in the forums because I am considering changing careers to Nursing because being a Nurse is something I've wanted to be aside from being a Teacher. Does this mean I hate Teaching?? Absolutely not.

I'm offended by you bashing Teachers and I sure hope I don't have you as my colleague one day.

Oh, as for Teachers marrying Doctors...I'm one of those Teachers. However, we met when he helped me fix my car when it broke down on the side of the road 3 years ago. I didn't go chasing after him because he is a Doctor.

None of us Nurses would be Nurses, and none of the Doctors would be Doctors, if it wasn't for Teachers!!
