Defeated and impeached, Trump still commands the loyalty of the GOP's voters

Published

I find it concerning, that this many Republicans support Mr. Trump.

Quote

If there's a civil war in the Republican Party, the voters who backed Donald Trump in November's election are ready to choose sides.

Behind Trump.

An exclusive Suffolk University/USA TODAY Poll finds Trump's support largely unshaken after his second impeachment trial in the Senate, this time on a charge of inciting an insurrection in the deadly assault on the Capitol Jan. 6.

By double digits, 46%-27%, those surveyed say they would abandon the GOP and join the Trump party if the former president decided to create one. The rest are undecided.

Likewise, you are simple minded if you think all Trump voters "walk lock-step".

You misunderstood my post.

You are the party of "ditto-heads".  We are the party of cats.  Can't herd us but we are independent thinkers and would NEVER bring a graven image statue to a Democratic Convention.  We are not idol worshipers.  The best thinkers of the Republican party have left the party.... Yes, please explain the intent and point of bringing up Trump's Media star sex partner, that he broke laws paying off before lying to you about it. Did you mention her to remind us that you voted for a sexual predator and creep while feeling that other sexual creeps should be held more accountable than DJT? Were you trying to highlight the hypocrisy of conservative sexual concern that ignores Trump's problems?

I got the point.   The point is the liberal press went nuts over this story and that it's not just the conservative press that is obsessed with sex.  No the two stories aren't remotely similar but it's the other point I think that was trying to be made.

Again, the the old "but your side does it too", but I think this time the point is valid because J22 seem to imply that conservatives were obsessed with sex to the point of pushing out important issues, but to me a good sex story is universally appealing to both sides.

I have noticed that what's important to one side, poverty, minimum wage, healthcare isn't as important to another side feel that other issues are more important like immigration, Cuomo, and riots.

I do appreciate you explaining what "point" seemed evident to you in Beerman's post. The hypocrisy was straightforward and unambiguous...but sure...his point was the hidden and convoluted meaning. That's how we have to assess Trump's comments too...what Trump said versus what Trump meant versus what Trump wants us to believe he meant.

"Party of cats".  LOL.  OK, whatever floats, I guess.

Madison Cawthorn Lied About Crash That Partially Paralyzed Him, Pal Says!

He's also been accused of lying about his acceptance into the naval academy and over 30 women have accused him of sexually harassing them!

I have no problems believing any of this because he totally comes across as one of those smarmy Televangelists type.

What do you want to bet he'll be embraced by the republicans?

("Verily I say unto you, he who is blameless, cast the first stone"

Someone said that or something like it?

Don't like the guy. Too smug. Too polished!

Re a disease that even had Dr Fauci stumped, Cuomo took the lead. He was pro active in an area that NO ONE knew what to do. He was out front, reassuring the public and taking measures that no one else was.

He made mistakes but he saved a lot of lives, unlike the republican's politicians who killed their voters!

He took charge when no one else would. And, he defied Trump the murderer!

I would look at neighboring NJ and Massachusetts etc and you would see even worse stats possibly.

Maybe he was an opportunist, but he took charge as he was supposed to do. I will be enormously surprised if this is his only mistakes.)

I did that post back in the beginning of February and I've been following the story.

Not condoning what he did but until a full investigation, I don't believe he should resign just yet. His first accuser had more than enough time to leave if she was that uncomfortable IMO, not that he should have placed her in the position to have to make that choice. The 2nd accuser seems more credible but he seems to have been flirting and again he shouldn't have been flirting with her. As a man, I have had my bottom pinched, slapped and felt up quite a few times and even though I was surprised, I put it down to older female colleagues just getting carried away and having some fun. Again not condoning the behavior but I am considerably bigger than these women and it wasn't threatening or disturbing to me. Men have a different standard IMO because if we want to exploit 'the take charge  hero attitude' then we shouldn't be wussy.

I know in today's male female dynamics things are completely different but I can tell you personally, I will never go out with a colleague, because of the potential for an accusation. It's my loss because I have worked with some very attractive women, but the climate has become very dangerous and IMO it's for the worse. Many male colleagues feel the same. It's like walking on eggshells negotiating the correct balance.

Men should be conscious of their behaviors but I believe that if you take the masculinity of out men, you get most of my friends who go to the nail salon and can't even put up a shelf or change their brake pads. A balance has to be struck because both men and women lose out IMO.

I'm still laughing at the name Madison for a manly man:)

I'm a guy. I keep sex and love interests separate from professional activities.  I don't make sexuality a topic of discussion or humor in the workplace.  I might be less uptight in private social settings...but...

Years ago we socialized with a large group of college friends and there was one attractive woman who flirted as a habit.  She took to kissing me on the neck one night when some of us were playing cards.  It was very awkward when I asked her to stop and then gathered my spouse and left shortly after she laughed that off and touched me inappropriately.

We left one of my wife's work Christmas parties when the host revealed the big surprise...a stripper Mr and Mrs Claus. That particular doc never hosted another unit party.

I follow same workplace standard, wish ALL bosses followed this standard.  Told off my boss, the CFO one time that his constant putdown of RN's and sexual appearance comments could be construed as a hostile workplace/sexual harassment and needed to STOP or I was filing complaint with HR on behalf of my staff.  They were taken aback. Next day, told me had discussed with his mother --she told him I was right and needed to apologize to staff; gave me a box of chocolates.  Behavior did stop.

The 50 most ridiculous lines from Donald Trump's CPAC speech

13. "Actually, as you know, they just lost the White House. But it's one of those things."

Biden won 306 electoral votes. He also beat Trump in the popular vote by more than 7 million.

14. "But who knows? Who knows? I may even decide to beat them for a third time, OK? For a third time."

Well, he didn't beat "them" twice. Also, a Trump 2024 candidacy would be hard to stop for Republicans and a very likely general election loss.

Trump's speech was a rehash of his lies and delusions of grandeur.  The entire event was a hot mess designed to coddle a dangerous narcissisticdespot.  I'm still waiting to discover who designed and approved that stage design.

Agree with "Unconditional Surrender" in the Republican Party from my view to total Trumpism...
