I find it concerning, that this many Republicans support Mr. Trump.
QuoteIf there's a civil war in the Republican Party, the voters who backed Donald Trump in November's election are ready to choose sides.
Behind Trump.
An exclusive Suffolk University/USA TODAY Poll finds Trump's support largely unshaken after his second impeachment trial in the Senate, this time on a charge of inciting an insurrection in the deadly assault on the Capitol Jan. 6.
By double digits, 46%-27%, those surveyed say they would abandon the GOP and join the Trump party if the former president decided to create one. The rest are undecided.

Exclusive: Defeated and impeached, Trump still commands the loyalty of the GOP's voters

The statue is not only a Nazi representation, it is straight out of the Holy Bible of things not to do! Thus, under Trump's rule the golden statue is a fitting representation of a political party that has become a cult of personality. Under Trump Republicans embody racist Trump driven anti-American/anti-US Constitutional policies, which they try to turn into laws! CPAC was full of racist Trump Terrorist, Trump Terrorist supporters, and other Trump sycophants. Under Trump, the Republican party will shrink to death (and rightly so)!
A friend of mine called yesterday to let me know that her 90 year old father just decided that he wouldn't vote for Trump in 2024:) He is still a racist but even he, just won't do it. I didn't ask her if he still watched only Fox. But I think there is hope, and maybe that's all it is, that when NY state lawsuits continue, it will reveal how much of a con-man he really is and others will conclude that he was just a circus barker and nothing more.

I didn't need my check either, but it isn't sitting in the bank. I have made several donations to the food bank, helped a neighbor with a vet bill, and got maintenance done on 2 vehicles. I didn't need the relief so I chose to put it into our local economy.

Exactly what we did...not specifically but generally. Took care of a couple "wants/shoulds" and used it for good in my local community. We're retired, we're not in the saving portion of our lives.
The symbols of hate and far-right extremism on display in pro-Trump Capitol siege
In light of the denials from CPAC about the design of the stage, I thought we might review some of the symbols that were popular among the Trump supporters who tried to overthrow our government on January 6. CPAC leadership want us to believe that the stage is nothing more than an innocent coincidence. That might be believable if they weren't also liars.
How naive would we be if we believed the blanket denials from the conspiracy theory, symbol focused party of modern jingoists? No one can prove intent but patterns of behavior, language and events can certainly give us bigly clues.
This doesn't really have anything to do with Trump's influence on conservatism...or does it?
An Unusual Acapella Anthem Arrangement
What key is that? The key of Q perhaps.

What I do with my check isn't your business and misses the point. Someone else who is hurting should be getting what I don't need. The government shouldn't need ME to redistribute the wealth. That is their job - I never should have received this money in the first place. I would much prefer that the money be used for $15/hr minimum wage and let the recipients decide how they need to spend it.

Well, if what you do with your check isn't my business, then why did you tell us what you did with it? I really don't care if you bank it, spend it, or burn it in your fireplace.
Truth be told, the money should have gone to mask manufacturing, a national testing plan, supporting data collection for public health, making schools safer, and to support those who either lost their job or had to stay home.
"Who knows, I may even decide to beat them for a third time" Trump says to his loud adoring maskless fans at CPAC. (Fox News continues to give Cuomo top billing on their website and almost an afterthought to Trump).
At the end of the day Trump's influence and power remains a bit shaken but pretty solid. In a poll his protege Florida Governor got 2nd place on whom they want to be president, although he got over 50% of their votes.
I still think that if the Republicans are gong to rise again they need to continue to move away from Trump, but it certainly doesn't matter me that even in his words they need to be united.
The only things I know about CPAC come from what I've read here. I really don't know why others here are so interested.
I don't need the stimulus check either. However, we paid 10's of thousands in federal income tax for 2020. If they're going to spend money on Pelosi's subway, give billions to the New York state govt, not to mention other waste, I'll happily take the few thousand sent back my way.

Florida stands to suffer from harsh budget cuts and shortfalls and will rely on the stimulus to avoid that, particularly in higher education. The governor of course doesn't what to say that because it might sound like he supports the package that Republican congress people obviously don't support.
The ex-President, Cruz, DeSantis and other very major players in the Republican Party are at this convention. It's one of the most publicized and important conservative conventions out there and gets a lot of publicity and attention every year. It's good to know what their platform is and what they are saying. That's why I'm interested. Usually but I really can't stomach too much of it.
