Dansko, Sorry, DO NOT GO WITH DANSKO

Published

these shoes are not what they are cracked up to be, they are absolutely NOT the best nursing shoes out there, and I am a nurse! I should know! I gave these shoes plenty of time to "break-in" and get used too, no go, I do not have any injuries or any weird thing wrong with my feet, I have perfectly normal feet, these shoes are painful. DO NOT GO WITH DANSKO. I went back to running shoes, then get your tennis shoes / running shoes, forget all of the "the best nursing shoe" claims, dansko and all of the others similar to Dansko are painful and cause injury.

I wore Danskos about 20 years ago when they were still made in Sweden. They were VERY expensive and pretty much only doctors wore them-then horse people. I paid about $175 for a pair that long ago-that would probably translate to about $500 today. The ones today are not the same. I have very high arches and they are, at best, an 8 hour shoe. I cannot wear the Alegrias for the same reason. Others LOVE both shoes. I have found that a good walking shoe is the best FOR ME. I have been wearing Skechers for 4 years and they are the only multiple-12 hour-day-in a row shoe that works for me. And they are less than $50 LOL

My best nursing shoes were Birkenstock Boston- I rolled my ankle badly in Dansko shoes as well. It was an expensive experiment.

I was already working as a tech when I graduated nursing school. My white (school code) reeboks gave me a HELL of a blister and were too narrow for my feet, but I wore them every night and bleached them every week for clinical and work. When I graduated, my mom (also a nurse) gave me a $200 Amazon.com gift card. I looked up women's tennis shoes reviews and bought my first pair based off of that. They were SOOOO comfy! Reeboks, I think. But they lasted only 2 months. I did the same thing for the next pair after I was a nurse. Asics. I've been on the job for about a year now, and I'm on my second pair of asics. Ripped a hole in the side of my first pair while knocking a bed down. GOOOD shoes though, and SOOO comfy. My feet do not complain anymore. Even if I DO have to buy two pair of shoes every year, I technically live half of my life in them, and they're comfy, so... no complaints.

Dansko, Nike, and Saucony nurse here-though I will say I wear Danskos more than my Nikes or Saucony sneakers.

What people don't realize is Danskos correct ones posture and how one walks; I use to have ankle rolling, but once I corrected my walking, that prevented ankle rolling-I was "pigeon toed " for many years, so that may have been contributing to the ankle rolling itself.

Also, Dansko comes in wide and narrow and regular, plus it European sizes, as well as have different kinds, from Sanitas to Dansko XP, there are different collections that work differently that the traditional Danskos-I tried Dansko XP, but felt the hurt my feet; I may try them again at a later date, but the traditionals work well for me.

The best way to find the best nursing show is to go to a store like The Walking Company to find out what you foot needs, and go from there with some solutions, such as orthotics and inserts as well.

My Danskos have a leopard rainbow print. I'm so cool.

My favorite Danksos are: the Nightgazer for night shift; The sweater print for the winter, and above all, which have been complemented given is the multicolored light burst print ones.

I have about ten pairs, from basic black to blue waves, black dot, brown dot, leopard print and peacock print. I rotate at least two-three per week to keep them fresh, as well as keep my feet rested.

i love my danskos! but i do acknowledge that they're not for everyone! Neither are big snazzy high heels. You'll never see me in a pair of heels but Danskos, yes, please!!

I had a pair of Klogs and liked them but then my sister gave ma pair of Clarks. She could not wear them for more than a few hours. First time out, I wore them for 16 hours!

Need to get me another pair!

Whoa, someone with more Danskos than me! I am impressed. I am simply just going to have to use the "but there are people out there with more Danskos than me!" excuse next time I want to buy a new pair and my family looks at me sideways...

I have 6 pairs of Danskos. Other than sandals in the summer, it's pretty much the only footwear I wear, inside and outside of my nursing job. I've worn Danskos for the past 10 years and I LOVE them

When people complain of them not being comfortable, I've found that it's most likely due to them being too small. You want them to be loose and to move freely over your heels.

That was not my issue.

Dansko people...stop blaming others! Some people like bananas, some don't. Some like chicken, some don't. Some like Danskos, some don't. That doesn't mean there's something wrong with the people who don't.

Can't wear Crocs because they are either too short or too long; no half-sizes, and no narrow widths. Found an off-brand, Quarx, which I have worn smooth on the sole, but can only find them on-line and I've got no credit card with which to pay for them. Danskos swim on me. Easy Spirit clogs have a small, low heel cup that annoys the beejeebers out of my feet and they are also wide and swimmy.

Now, Clark's low-heeled clogs --with two arch supports in each shoe to give me support and take up some space because they ALSO have no narrow widths-- Clark's I can stand and walk in during 12 hour shifts with no aches or pain in feet, ankles or knees.

Back in the day I used to wear clinics with Dr. Scholl's leather arch inserts; tough to break in, but once you did, you were good to go for however long. But I don't believe they even make them anymore.
